An Open Letter to an Anonymous “Pro-Life” Commenter – Episode 044

In this episode, I read a piece of my writing that I wrote on January 7, 2016, on a blog that no longer exists.

It was written in response to a random, anonymous, “pro-life” commenter who left and incredibly long and angry comment on a blog post I wrote about a bill that would prevent women from accessing abortion.

I read “An Open Letter to an Anonymous “Pro-Life” Commenter” on episode 044 of Words of Jen.

I wrote this piece of writing on January 7, 2016, on a blog that no longer exists. I have edited it slightly to remove typos and provide clarity.

It was written in response to a random, anonymous, “pro-life” commenter who left an incredibly long comment on a blog post I wrote about a bill that would prevent women from accessing abortion.

I read “An Open Letter to an Anonymous “Pro-Life” Commenter” in episode 044 of my Words of Jen podcast.

Jen’s Lore Corner – Valla – Episode 010

Welcome to Jen’s Lore Corner, a podcast about the lore of the Diablo video game series. This podcast started as a segment on the Shattered Soulstone podcast. I decided to re-release those segments in their own podcast.

Episode 010 marks the beginning of brand new content.

In this episode, I review the lore of Valla the Demon Hunter. Her story is scattered through a short story, different parts of Diablo III, and an entirely different Blizzard game.

Before I started recording this episode, I put together a blog post with everything I know about the story of Valla.

Jen’s Lore Corner: Valla – Episode 010 is a post written by Jen Thorpe on Book of Jen and is not allowed to be copied to other sites.

Diablo III, Diablo Lore 1 comment on The Lore of Valla the Demon Hunter

The Lore of Valla the Demon Hunter

If you are playing the female Demon Hunter in Diablo III as your character, there is reason to believe that she might be Valla.

So, who is Valla?  According to the Diablo Wiki,  Valla was born around 1265 (in the “Diablo universe” timeline).  She was born around the time that connects to the Diablo II game.

Sometime later, Valla’s younger sister, Halissa, was born. The sisters were close. At least one, if not both, of the girls parents were sawyers – people who sawed timber for a living.

Diablo III, Diablo Seasons 0 comments on Highlights from Season 15 (Boon of the Horadrim)

Highlights from Season 15 (Boon of the Horadrim)

Season 15 was the Boon of the Horadrim season. It gave players extra stuff for completing Bounties. It also had the Rathma’s set as the “freebie” for Necromancers. Those who finished Chapter IV got a creepy hand pet.

In this blog post, I have a quick look at the progress I made through Season 15. Overall, I wish I could have spent more time playing than I did. But, I’m not unhappy with how things worked out.

health insurance, Out of Spoons 1 comment on Three Month Wait

Three Month Wait

My health insurance premium unexpectedly increased – without warning – at the start of 2019. This means I’ll be paying more out of pocket than expected. I’ve not yet figured out how to pay for the dental work that I need done, and that my dental health insurance won’t cover.

I am writing this blog post while sick, and knowing that I will not have access to a primary care doctor for three months.

Book Reviews, romance 0 comments on Nocturne – by Syrie James

Nocturne – by Syrie James

Nocturne is “a haunting story of forbidden love”. It says so right on the cover. The entire story takes place in just a few days, which is more than enough time for the main characters to fall madly in love with each other.

Michael is a vampire (and Nicole is not). Michael’s secret is revealed to the reader early on in the story. Nicole misses every clue until something bloody obvious finally opens her eyes.

Can a relationship between a human, and a vampire, work out? This is the question that Nicole and Michael must find an answer to.
