The U.S. Justice Department is asking the Supreme Court of the United States for an emergency halt to the Texas SB 8 law. The law prevents people who are pregnant from obtaining an abortion after six weeks of gestation. Pregnancy is measured from the first day of a person’s last menstrual cycle and before many people realize that they are pregnant.

The Department makes an effort to prevent housing discrimination. They fight for the rights of people who are BIPOC, LGBTQ+, disabled, and/or parents to not be discriminated against when searching for housing.

The “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy caused harm to veterans.

On August 19, 2021, the U.S. Department of Education announced that over 323,000 borrowers who have a total and permanent disability (TPD) will receive more than $5.8 billion in automatic student loan discharges due to a new regulation. The change will apply to borrowers who are identified through an existing data match with the Social Security Administration (SSA). It will begin with the September quarterly match with SSA.
