My original two dragons have managed to hatch the three eggs they were incubating. This is their third batch of babies. This time, they created some pretty purple baby dragons!

I haven’t quite figured out what to do with the new hatchlings yet. I posted a blog about the upcoming hatchlings on Tumblr, but got no response. It was worth a try. All of the artwork in this post is copyright of Flight Rising.

For this post, I thought it would be interesting to do a “family tree” (of sorts) and track the genes that were handed down from my original two dragons to their three batches of offspring. My starter dragons are Shadowspawn and Bob.

Shadowspawn is a female Guardian
Primary: Silver Basic
Secondary: Storm Basic
Tertiary: Green Basic

Bob is a male Fae.
Primary: Forest Basic
Secondary: Banana Basic
Tertiary: Ivory Basic

Their first breeding produced two babies.

The lavender/pink one is named Pepto, and the blue one is named Bulah.

Pepto is a female Fae.
Primary: Lavender Basic (from neither of her parents)
Secondary: Steel Basic (from neither of her parents)
Tertiary: Leaf Basic (from neither of her parents)

Bulah is a female Fae.
Primary: Splash Basic (from neither of her parents)
Secondary: Avocado Basic (from neither of her parents)
Tertiary: Leaf Basic (from neither of her parents).

Where did these genes come from? These dragon girls didn’t get any genes from their parents. The parents do not have parents (because the “starter dragons” in this game have no ancestry at all). Also, it is worth pointing out that in Flight Rising, genes can only be passed down from parent to offspring. The offspring do not inherit from their grandparents, etc., at all.

Perhaps the answer to this puzzle is that the game automatically generated dragons with genes that your “starter dragons” do not have? It seems so for the first breeding of Shadowspawn and Bob.

Their second breeding produced two babies.

I put these two babies on the Auction House. They both got named “Plague”. Each was immediately exalted (scoring points for the Plague Flight – not my Shadow Flight).

Plague is a female Fae.
Primary: Obsidian Basic (from neither of her parents)
Secondary: Green Basic (from her mother, Shadowspawn’s, tertiary gene)
Tertiary: Ivory Basic (from her father, Bob’s, tertiary gene)

Plague is a male Guardian.
Primary: Teal Basic (from neither of his parents)
Secondary: Swamp Basic (from neither of his parents)
Tertiary: Green Basic (from his mother, Shadowspawn’s, tertiary gene)

Bob and Shadowspawn have now hatched a third batch of babies (December 1, 2013). This time there were three. Dragons can produce between one and five eggs (and I think it is a random roll).

I haven’t named these babies yet, because I think I want to try and sell them. They have limited breeding potential in my lair. It’s full of their relatives (and their relative’s mates).

Unnamed is a female Fae.
Primary: Royal Basic (from neither of her parents)
Secondary: Teal Basic (from neither of her parents)
Tertiary: Lemon Basic (from neither of her parents)

Unnamed is a female Guardian.
Primary: Mulberry Basic (from neither of her parents)
Secondary: Blue Basic (from neither of her parents)
Tertiary: Ivory Basic (from her father, Bob’s, tertiary gene)

Unnamed is a male Guardian.
Primary: Violet Basic (from neither of his parents)
Secondary: Azure Basic (from neither of his parents)
Tertiary: Banana Basic (from his father, Bob’s, secondary gene)

I decided to take a glance at the Auction House to see what baby Guardian dragons and baby Fae dragon are selling for right now. It looked like the Fae were priced at around 5000 (higher if they were pretty). The Guardians were priced at 7000 (higher if they were pretty).

Why not give the Forum another try? This time, I went into the “Dragons For Sale” forum, and made a post about the pretty purple dragon babies. I asked 8000 for each one.  My hope was that someone would see the post and buy the babies.  But, that didn’t happen.  I tried bumping up the post a couple of times (because things get buried by other posts really fast in the forums).

So, these babies went on the Auction House for 8000 each.  The auction expired in 1 day, and nobody bought them.  So, I put them back on for 6500.  Again, nobody bought them.  For my last attempt, I put them back on the Auction House for 5500.  If nobody buys them this time, I will exalt them and score points for Shadow Flight.
