This season, I decided to play a Hardcore Barbarian. In general, I find that leveling up while playing solo can be tedious. It can get pretty intense in Hardcore if you aren’t careful.

I completed my first goal – to hit Level 50. My next goal was to get my Barbarian to Level 70.

One of the cool new changes in Season 17 was that players could now flip through the Season Journey. It was now a lot easier to see what objectives I completed in the parts of the Season Journey ahead of where I was at.

The result was I was able to find objectives that were in upcoming chapters that I believed my Barbarian was ready to do right now. I made a lot of progress while working through Chapter I.

Here is the Season Journey progress I made while I was in Chapter II:

Expert: Complete a Nephalem Rift on Expert difficulty or higher.

There wasn’t a whole lot of options for me to choose from as I worked on leveling my Barbarian from 50 to 70. The most effective option seemed to be Nephalem Rifts. I was playing on Expert difficulty.

In the video above, my Barbarian randomly ended up in what looks a whole lot like Whimsydale as a level in a Nephalem Rift. It was fun to run through!

Ghom Nom Nom: Kill Ghom at level 60 or higher on Hard difficulty or higher.

Fresh Static Snow: Kill Izual at level 60 or higher on Hard difficulty or higher.

Maximum Efficiency: Raise the Blacksmith, Jeweler and Mystic to level 12.

Hot Anvil, Strong Steel & The Real Deal: Craft a level 70 Weapon or Armor piece.

The Rock: Craft a Gem of Imperial or greater quality at the Jeweler. Socketing an Emerald into your weapon increases your Critical Hit Damage, and is a big damage boost.

Level I Seasonal Cubist: Extract a Legendary power using Kanai’s Cube.

Master: Complete a Nephalem Rift on Master difficulty or higher.

The Little Things That Count: Craft a level 70 Ring or Amulet.

I ran a bunch of Nephalem Rifts until my Barbarian to hit Level 70.

Riftomania: Finish a level 70 Nephalem Rift.

Above & Beyond: Reach level 70.

Season Journey (Chapter II) COMPLETE!

Players who completed Chapter II of the Season Journey received two pieces of the “freebie” set. In Season 17, the Barbarian set is Might of the Earth.

Eyes of the Earth is a helm. The flavor text says: Mountains crumble. Cliffs fall. Canyons rip asunder. The forces that shape the land are a mystery to most. But not to you. Not anymore.

Pull of the Earth is the gloves for this set. The flavor text says: No mortal can escape the grasp of the earth. No matter how high something jumps or flies, it inevitably plummets back to the ground. Imagine having that power in your hands.

Barbarians who wear two pieces of the Might of the Earth set get a bonus: Reduce the cool down of Earthquake, Avalanche, Leap and Ground Stomp by 1 second for every 30 Fury you spend with an attack.

Athena the Barbarian is wearing two pieces of the Might of the Earth Set.

The next thing I need to do is complete Chapter III. I’ve already finished several of the objectives. The hard part will be getting my Barbarian strong enough to complete the rest on higher difficulties than I’ve been playing so far this season.
