Why I’m Not Boycotting Blizzard

As you may have heard, there was a controversy involving Hearthstone (made by Blizzard Entertainment, which is part of Activision/Blizzard), and a Hearthstone player who publicly stated a viewpoint that has been described as political. This led to many fans of Blizzard’s games to call for a boycott of the company. (You may have seen #BoycottBlizzard trending on Twitter).

I am not among those who are boycotting Blizzard. Yes, I realize that there will be people who choose to become angry with me because I am not doing what they have decided to do. I’m sharing my reasons anyway, in part because I doubt I’m the only person in the world who chooses not to join in this boycott.

The Care and Feeding of Exotic Pets – by Diana Wagman

Despite the title, The Care and Feeding of Exotic Pets, is not a book about how to provide care and comfort to an unorthodox choice of pet. You won’t find this one in your local pet store!

Instead, it is an intense, creepy, novel about a woman who is kidnapped by a man who owns a gigantic iguana. Diana Wagman does an excellent job of getting into her characters heads, frightening the reader, and building the intensity of the story as it goes on.

How a Window Air Conditioner Made Me Sick

My husband and I had a window air conditioner in our bedroom. We were lucky to have a relative come over and install it for us. At the time the work was done, everything looked great. The years were not kind to this air conditioner, nor the perch it was sitting on.

What we didn’t realize, until we had the air conditioner removed, was that it was very likely making us both sick. My immune system sucks, so this probably hit me harder than it did my husband.

Flight Rising: Holiday Bears

There are many holidays in Flight Rising where players can purchase special Familiars by gathering up enough in-game currency.

The Holiday Bears Familiar Set was released in June of 2014, through May of 2015. Each one corresponds to a specific Elemental Flight. If you don’t have them, your best chance of collecting them is through the Auction House.

All of the artwork in this post is copyright of Flight Rising.

WoW Classic: Bag Space

There are times when the differences between WoW Classic and Retail WoW are glaringly obvious. In Retail WoW, it is fairly easy to obtain bags that are big enough to almost everything you need. Not so in WoW Classic!

The quests that Vaca (my Tauren Warrior) and Neverlast (my friend’s Tauren Druid) we working on required more bag space than we had.

Change of Season

Pepper, Marvin, Pinky, and Morris were making excited and curious little chirps today. They noticed that the weather is starting to cool off and the humidity is lower than it has been. The cockatiels are ready for Fall!

Where’d You Go, Bernadette – by Maria Semple

Bernadette is a quirky, unbalanced, architect who hasn’t worked in a while. Her husband, Elgin, works for Microsoft. They live in Seattle with their wonderful daughter, Bee.

Bee comes home from school with a stellar report card and asks her parents for a trip to Antarctica (a promised reward for good grades). Bernadette disappears shortly before the trip. This leaves her family wondering: “Where’d you go, Bernadette?”

Flight Rising: Goblin Familiars

Flight Rising is a game where players control a Lair full of dragons. Each dragon can be given a Familiar. It is sort of like a pet for the dragon. Players click on the Familiar every day for Treasure.

I have obtained the entire collection of the Goblin Familiars. All of them were part of the in-game holidays between June of 2016 and February of 2017. It is still possible to buy the Goblins from the Auction House.

All of the artwork in this post is copyright of Flight Rising.

WoW Classic: Friended

A friend of mine, whom I have played Dungeons & Dragons with, decided to give WoW Classic a try. He decided to play a Tauren Druid, a class that paired nicely with my Tauren Warrior.

I highly recommend playing WoW Classic with a friend. Doing so makes finishing quests easier, leveling up a bit faster, and is a lot of fun! In the screenshot above, my Warrior was level 6, and his Druid was level 3.
