Diablo III, Diablo Lore 0 comments on Archangel Auriel

Archangel Auriel

Archangel Auriel is one of the members of the Angiris Council. Players encounter her in Diablo III, but very briefly. There’s a quest to rescue her. (She is taken prisoner by Rakanoth). After that, Auriel helps the player character by opening portals from one zone to the next.

There is more to Auriel than what you see in-game. Some of her story is found in The Book of Cain, and a small piece of it is in The Sin War trilogy.

There’s also some online websites that give a brief story about who Auriel is. I decided to put all of that together in one place, in order to give people a clearer view of who Archangel Auriel is.

Auriel is the only female member of the Angiris Council. I’m not really troubled by this because the Angiris Council is rather small. At its largest, it included five Archangels. (There have been some vacancies.) One female angel on the Council is better than none.

Pepper Wants a Bath

Pepper sat on the edge of the cage, spread his wings, folded them, and looked at me.  He didn’t want to fly, so I guessed maybe he was asking for a bath.

This photo was taken seconds after I put the bath dish on the cage.

Some Thoughts About Leah’s Soul

What happened to Leah’s soul after we killed Diablo at the end of Act IV in Diablo III? There are no clear answers to this question. We can only speculate on where Leah’s soul went. That being said, we can also figure out some places where we know Leah’s soul couldn’t possibly have ended up.

For whatever reason, I seem to be haunted by Leah’s soul this week. I decided to share my thoughts on Leah’s soul mostly to get this stuff out of my head and into a blog post. Again, I’d like to point out that some of these thoughts are speculation and not “canon”.

16 Things that Won’t Happen in Diablo III

A friend who I follow on Twitter mentioned the Portent’s Content Idea Generator. I’d never heard of it before, so I decided to give it a try. This blog is the result of the title it generated for me.

It was totally random that I ended up with a title with the number 16 in it. That works nicely with my Day 16 post for #Blaugust. Those of you who are also working your way through #Blaugust might want to give the generator a try. It’s better than being stuck for ideas.

Diablo Game Play, Diablo III 0 comments on Lucky the Monk

Lucky the Monk

On May 15, 2013, the hosts of the Shattered Soulstone podcast got together with some listeners on Mumble for a special event. We decided that on the first “birthday” of Diablo III everyone would get online and play Diablo III together.

Special rules were created for this game. In honor of Diablo III’s first birthday, everyone’s character would play the game in their “birthday suits”. In other words, players could equip whatever weapon they could find – but were not allowed to equip any kind of armor at all. Back then, every character started out in what looked a lot like underwear.

Cozy Bookstore

There are many small, random, quests that a player can find in Act V of Diablo III. Look for a brightly lit doorway, and go inside. Some kind of event will start.

Behind one of those brightly lit doorways is an event called “Cozy Bookstore”. It caught my attention because I love to read, have a tendency to buy more books than I can reasonably consume, and used to work in a big chain bookstore.
