Lachdanan’s Stormshield

Lachdanan’s Stormshield is a cosmetic item that can be found in Diablo III. There is lore attached to the character of Lachdanan, but you don’t actually need to know it in order to pick up his shield and transmogrify a shield that your character, or your character’s follower, can use.

To find this item, you must start by going to Leoric’s Manor.

Whimsydale

Whimsydale is the most colorful place in all of Diablo III. It’s got rainbows, and happy clouds. You can find at least one diabolic-yet-cute piñata in there somewhere. There are pastel colored ponies and teddy bears that…. want to kill you.

When I first heard about Whimsydale, I thought it was the dumbest thing ever. How could something so, well, whimsical be part of Diablo III?  The whole idea felt wrong to me. Later, after visiting Whimsydale, I changed my opinion. I now find it to be very amusing.

Leveling the Mystic

Myriam Jahzia, the Mystic, is a crafter that players could unlock in the Reaper of Souls expansion.  The purpose of the Mystic is to enable players to transmogrify their items.

The other, perhaps more useful, purpose of the Mystic is to let players change an affix on their weapon, armor, or jewelry (and hopefully end up with a better affix than they started with.)

When I play a Season, I almost always do it in Adventure mode.  I try to level the Mystic as quickly as I can.  Doing so causes me to miss out on the beautiful artwork that Blizzard created for every level of the Mystic.  There are a lot of details to see!

Leveling the Jeweler

The main purpose of Covetous Shen, the Jeweler, is to help the player level up the jewels that they find while adventuring.  He can also remove jewels from a socket, which comes in handy.

Shen starts out at level 1.  Players can raise each crafter up to Level 12.

When I play in Adventure mode during a Season, I try and level up the Jeweler as fast as I can.  The downside of doing this so fast is that I miss out on the wonderful artwork that Blizzard created for each level of the Jeweler.  There are so many details to see!

Leveling the Blacksmith

The main purpose of Haedrig Eamon, the Blacksmith, is to craft armor and weapons for the player.  He starts out at Level 1.  Players can raise each crafter up to Level 12.

When I play in Adventure mode during a Season, I try and level up the Blacksmith as fast as I can (and I think other players do, too).  Don’t forget to take a second to admire the artwork that changes each time you level up the Blacksmith.  There are so many details to see!

How to Extract Legendary Powers with Kanai’s Cube

Kanais-Cube-500x451Season 4 of Diablo III was the first time that players had access to Kanai’s Cube.

Technically, players who decided to check out the Player Test Realm (PTR) were able to find and use Kanai’s Cube before it was placed into the game.

So, for me, the first opportunity I had to use it was during Season 4.

I was playing hardcore characters during Season 4, so all of the things I put in Kanai’s Cube can only affect my hardcore characters. Eventually, I want to “complete” the entire Kanai’s Cube – by putting all the stuff into it (in both hardcore and softcore).

Paragon Portrait Frames – to 100

paragon-level-10-portraitA player who goes from Paragon 1 to Paragon 100 unlocks a total of 10 Paragon Portraits. They flash by on the screen as the player is fighting a mob. This makes it hard to take a close look at them. Players who have gotten many characters to Paragon 100 – and beyond – might not care about the corresponding portraits.

You could stop by the in-game Wardrobe and take a look at all of the portraits that you have unlocked. I doubt most players spend a lot of time with the Wardrobe. It takes seconds to pick a portrait frame and get back to fighting demons.

In this blog, I have collected screenshots of all the portrait frames players can unlock as they go from Paragon 10 to Paragon 100.

Dead and Waiting and Brawling

una-brawling

I found a folder of screenshots from a “Dead and Waiting” event that the hosts and listeners of Shattered Soulstone did on June 4, 2013. I’ve only attended a few of these events. This particular one involved Brawling.

Part of the reason why I am posting Diablo III screenshots from years ago is because this post is part of my contribution to #Blaugust. One of my goals was to use up some of the screenshots that I’d been hoarding. I meant to make a blog out of them someday… so, someday is today. The other reason is because these screenshots show my second hardcore character. At the time, I was extremely new to playing hardcore.

What Can You Do In Between Seasons?

It’s pretty easy to figure out what to do while Diablo III has a Season going on. You either choose to roll a Seasonal character and play the Season…. or you choose to opt-out and continue with whatever it was you were doing in Diablo III. It’s the in between time that can seem a little confusing, especially for people who are brand new to Diablo III.

What can you do while you are waiting for the next Season to begin? There are plenty of options.
