Z is for Zayl

This blog is part of an “A to Z” challenge that I started over a year ago… and am finishing now. It’s also my Day 13 post for #Blaugust. Why not kill two blogs with one stone?

Z is for Zayl. He is a beloved character in the Diablo III universe, along with his friend Humbardt.

Zayl is a necromancer. He carries with him the undead skull of Humbert Wessel (often in a pouch). The two play off of each other in was that can seem very comic at times. Overall, these two characters function like good friends, even when they bicker. Humbardt often complains that he wants to be taken out of the pouch because he can’t see anything. Zayl reminds him that he doesn’t have eyes anyway.

Y is for Yellow Loot

This blog is part of a series I began about a year ago. I was involved in an “A to Z” challenge. People who participated were supposed to write one blog for each letter of the alphabet and post the blog on a specific day. I choose to write about stuff related to the “Diablo universe”. I failed to finish the challenge.

I’ve decided to finish up the last couple of “A to Z” blogs as part of my participation in #Blaugust. The topics were already planned out, and in my head, so now is a good time to actually sit down and write them.

Y is for Yellow loot. It’s not the worst kind of loot a player can pick up, but its far from the best.

X is for Xazax

A while ago, I participated in an “A to Z” blog challenge. Write one thing for each letter and post it on the correct day. That challenge was my first attempt to write a lot of blogs about the “Diablo universe”. I failed to finish the challenge. I’ve decided that #Blaugust is my second chance to write the leftover “A to Z” blogs that I never got around to completing.

X is for Xazax. He is an obscure character in the “Diablo universe”, so you may not have heard about him. This character doesn’t appear in any of the Diablo video games.

W is for Wives in Sanctuary

About a year ago, I attempted to participate in a blogging challenge called “A to Z”.  The rules were simple.  Write one blog for each letter of the alphabet.  Post that blog on a specific day.  You could write about whatever you wanted to, so long as it fit the letter of the day.

I thought it would be fun to write my “A to Z” blogs about Diablo III related stuff.  I quickly learned that I had a lot more to say than I anticipated, and found the blogging challenge to be overwhelming.  I failed to finish it.  So, why not incorporate the untouched, but planned out, topics into #Blaugust?

V is for Virgil

This blog is part of my series that was supposed to be completed as part of the A to Z Blogging Challenge that took place in April of this year.  The rules require all participating bloggers to write one blog that fits with each letter of the alphabet and to post the blog on the correct day.  I failed to complete the Challenge on time.

My plan was to use the Challenge as a way to get started writing about Diablo III (and its “universe”).  The amount of detail that I wanted to put in the blogs proved to be too overwhelming for the time span I was allotted.  I still wanted to write about the ideas I selected, so I’m going to keep working on them.  The only difference is that they will be posted when I am able to (instead of within a certain time span).

V is for Virgil.  He is a non-player character (NPC) that players run into extremely briefly during one of the quests to collect the sword pieces for “the Stranger”.  Poor Virgil!  We hardly knew you.

U is for Urzael

This blog was supposed to be for the A to Z Blogging Challenge that took place in April.  The rules require participants to write one blog for each letter of the alphabet, and to post them on the correct day.  My intentions were good, but my choice of subject matter turned out to be overwhelming.

I used the challenge as a “jumping off point” so I would finally push myself to start writing about Diablo III (and its “universe”).  I’m still interested in writing about the topics I selected.  The difference is that I can do it on my one time frame now.

U is for Urzael.  Players had not heard of him until they got far enough along in the Reaper of Souls expansion to be “introduced” to him.  Who is this new angel, what is his history, and why do we care?

Diablo A to Z, Diablo III 1 comment on T is for Templar

T is for Templar

This blog was supposed to be completed in April as part of the A to Z Blogging Challenge.  The rules for the challenge require you to write one blog, every day, during the month of April.  It can be about anything you want, so long as you find a way to make each topic fit the letter of the day.  I wanted to use the experience as a way to push myself to get started writing about Diablo III (and its “universe”).

Unfortunately, that proved to be a bigger task than I expected.  I had a lot to say about the Diablo III topics I selected, and I needed some time to research each blog (to make sure I was spelling things correctly and had the lore right).  As such, I did not complete the A to Z Challenge.  I still wanted to write about the topics I picked, though.  The only difference is that they can now be completed whenever I have time.

T is for Templar.  The Templar is one of the Followers that players get in Diablo III.  Kormac the Templar goes through a lot of character development from the first time the player encounters him through Act V.  In this blog, I wanted to share some of my thoughts about the Templar. (There are some “spoilers” here for those who have not completed Act V in Diablo III: Reaper of Souls.)

S is for Souls

This blog is one that was supposed to be completed as part of the A to Z Blogging Challenge in April. My intent was to use the challenge as a way to get started writing about Diablo III (and its “universe”). Unfortunately, I ended up working a lot in April, and did not finish the Challenge in the allotted period of time. Despite that, I intend to go ahead and write the blogs I had planned for it. The remaining blogs in the alphabet will be written on my own time frame.

S is for Souls. The Diablo III: Reaper of Souls expansion involves a “big bad”, Malthael, who is stealing the souls of the humans (or nephalem) that live on Sanctuary. It made me wonder…. where do souls in the Diablo III “universe” go when they leave the body?

R is for Rakanishu’s Blade

This blog is one I was intending to post during the April A to Z Blogging Challenge. I failed to keep up with the challenge, and post one blog, for each letter of the alphabet, on the correct day in April. I’ve decided to go ahead and write the blogs that I didn’t have time for last month anyway. The only difference is that they will happen on my own time, and not as part of a challenge.

R is for Rakanishu’s Blade. It is a unique weapon that can be found in Diablo III. The lore behind it is also interesting.

Q is for Queen Asylla

This blog is one that I intended to write for the A to Z Blogging Challenge. Unfortunately, I failed to complete all the blogs in the given time-frame. Instead, I spent a lot of time in April completing writing work that was for pay. The challenge itself is over, but I still wanted to write about the topics I selected for it. The difference is I will be doing it on my own timescale.

Q is for Queen Asylla. I have very mixed feelings about how this character is presented in Diablo III and the quests she gives the player.
