Taking Things Slow to the Jar of Souls (Season 2)

This blog is part of the series I am doing about my progress in Season 2 of Diablo III. This time around, I’m working on leveling up a hard core Demon Hunter named Dusk. My primary goal is to get him to Level 70 so I can unlock the transmogs that are exclusive to Season 2. If I accomplish that goal – I’ll pick another one to work towards.

The screenshots you see in this blog were taken on February 15, 2015. I decided to do some solo play through parts of Act I in Normal difficulty. In other words, I was playing it extremely safe. I was having a bad allergy day and was worried that this would affect my ability to focus on the game. So, I took things slow and hoped to level up my Demon Hunter a little bit more.

The Adventure of Dusk Begins! (Season 2)

Diablo III Season 2 started on February 13, 2015. I had the opportunity to get on Mumble and start off Season 2 by talking with, and gaming with, friends of mine. It is rare that I decide to get on Mumble while I’m playing video games and I’m really happy I did it. I think that Season 2 is going to be about pushing out of my “comfort zone” in Diablo III.

In Season 1, I spent the entire Season playing a soft core Barbarian (named Gurr). Barbarians are so much fun to play, and I had a great time. Before Season 2 started, I decided that I was going to play a hard core Demon Hunter this time around. I chose a male character because I’ve already got a female Demon Hunter who is at Level 70.

My new Seasonal Demon Hunter is named Dusk. The inspiration came from a Tweet sent by Neil Degrasse Tyson, who noted that we have a lot of people named Dawn, but no one named Dusk. I think the name fits the mood of a Demon Hunter. The screenshots you see in this blog are from February 13, 2015.

End of Season 1 Wrap Up

Season 1 in Diablo III is officially over and done with.  Players who participated will find their Seasonal character in the same place that their non-season characters are located.  I recommend that players who had a Seasonal character take a moment to retrieve all of that character’s loot from their mail before the time limit on that runs out and it all disappears.

I wanted to do a “wrap up” about Season 1, in part because it seemed like a nice way to end the series of blogs that I’d been writing about it.  One of my goals was to finish blogging about Season 1 at around the same time that the Season ended.  The other reason I wanted to do a “wrap up” was to have a place for the loose ends that are floating around in my head about Season 1. As such, this post might be a bit more scattered than usual as I cover all the “leftovers”.

Paragon Leveling Achievements (Season 1)

Season 1 in Diablo III included several Achievements that were “Season Only”.  One group of them was the Paragon Leveling Achievements.  As you may have guessed from the name, these Achievements were earned when a player reached a certain Paragon Level on his or her Seasonal character.

One of the goals I set for myself during Season 1 was to hit Paragon 100 on my Seasonal character.  In part, this was because I wanted to get all the Seasonal Paragon Leveling Achievements.  The bigger reason, though, was because I had never before gotten a character from Level 1 to Level 70 and then gone on to get that same character to Paragon 100.

Feats of Strength Achievements (Season 1)

Season 1 in Diablo III is coming to an end “soon”. We know there will be a Season 2. However, it isn’t completely clear which Seasonal Achievements from the first Season will re-appear in upcoming Seasons.

This blog focuses on a section of Seasonal Achievements in the “Feats of Strength” category. They were really easy to obtain – just keep playing the game and you will earn them eventually. Each of these Achievements unlocked something special for player’s banners.  One unlocks a special transmog for helm and shoulders.

Monster Slaying Achievements (Season 1)

Season 1 in Diablo III is coming to an end “soon”.  I wanted to take a minute to record some of the Seasonal Achievements that I earned before the Season ends. These Achievements might, or might not, appear in Season 2.

The Monster Slaying Achievements are Seasonal-only.  You cannot earn them unless you were playing a Seasonal character during Season 1.  The cool thing about this group of Achievements is that you could earn them as you played through Story Mode or while doing bounties and rifts.  It counted either way.

Leveling Achievements (Season 1)

This blog is part of the series I am putting together about my experiences in Season 1 of Diablo III. In this one, I wanted to point out a batch of Seasonal Achievements that players could earn as they leveled a character through Season 1. Admittedly, these were some incredibly easy Achievements to obtain.

For that reason, I suspect that this batch of Achievements won’t be a part of Season 2. I could be wrong about that, though.

I’m basing this assumption on something I vaguely remember being said at BlizzCon 2014 about the removal of some of the Seasonal leveling Achievements. We will have to wait and see what ends up happening.

To Level 70! (Season 1)

This blog is part of my series about what I did in Season 1 of Diablo III. I rolled a brand new Barbarian and named him Gurr. He was my only Seasonal character for Season 1. My first goal for Season 1 was to get Gurr all the way through the Story Mode content (Normal difficulty).

This blog focuses on my second goal for Season 1. I wanted to have Gurr hit Level 70. My hope was that he would do that at the same time as he finished up Act V. That didn’t happen. So, I ended up running through bounties and rifts for a while in an effort to level him up.  The screenshots you see in this blog are from September 14, 18, 20, 21, 22 and 23, 2014.

Act V Achievements (Season 1)

This blog is part of the series I am doing about my progress through Season 1 in Diablo III. I started this season with a brand new Barbarian named Gurr, and he ended up being my only Seasonal character. When the Season began, I had two goals. One was to get him all the way through the content in Story Mode. The other was to get him to hit Level 70.

Along the way, I wanted to see how many Achievements I could earn before Season 1 ended. This blog focuses on the Achievements that Gurr the Barbarian got in Act V of Season 1. I was playing on Normal difficulty (figuring I could raise the difficulty later on if there was still time). The screenshots you see in this blog were taken between September 6, and September 13, 2014.

Gurr’s Adventure through Act V (Season 1)

This is part of a series of blogs that I am putting together about my experience in Season 1 of Diablo III.  In this one, I focus on Gurr the Barbarian’s adventure through Act V of Story Mode (Normal difficulty).  I will show the Legendaries he found, the monsters he fought, and the Levels he gained.

An upcoming blog will feature the Achievements that he earned during this trip through Act V.  My main goals for Season 1 were to complete the content in all five Acts in Story Mode, and to get Gurr to Level 70.  Ideally, I wanted both of those two goals to be completed at the same time, but that’s not quite how it worked out.  The screenshots you see in this blog were taken on September 6, September 7, September 9, September 11, September 12, and September 13, 2014.
