The newest patch of World of Warcraft included lots of new stuff. Many of the character models have been given an update. This isn’t really “news”. We’ve been hearing about this for a while now. Everyone who cared to could easily view a preview of the new character models via YouTube and various blogs. That being said, it still feels a bit strange to log in and see that your character looks a bit different now.

Newman’s Landing
In episode four of Skolnick’s Warcraft Less Traveled, he gave directions to a lonely little place called Newman’s Landing. I was able to visit it before Cataclysm.
I arrived there at night, which made the place a little creepy to visit. There is a small house located at Newman’s Landing. The screenshots you see in this blog were taken on November 18, 2010. Later, after the Cataclysm expansion was released, I went back to Newman’s Landing to see what had changed.
The Dragons of Nightmare
In episode ten of Skolnick’s Warcraft Less Traveled, he talked in great detail about The Dragons of Nightmare. To get the full story, I highly recommend you listen to that episode.
I did manage to travel to some of the locations mentioned in this episode before Cataclysm. Unfortunately, I was never lucky enough to see a dragon spawn from any of the portals, no matter how often I visited. My best guess is that my timing was never quite right. The screenshots you see in this blog were taken on January 15, 2012.
Arathi Dwarven Farm
In episode nine of Warcraft Less Traveled, Skolnick explained how to get to the Arathi Dwarven Farm. This was a location that I did manage to get to before Cataclysm, but, I seem to have lost my screenshots from my original trip. You will just have to take my word for it.
The screenshots you see in this blog were from my second trip to the Arathi Dwarven Farm. They were taken on January 13, 2012.
Shrine of the Fallen Warrior
In episode eight of Warcraft Less Traveled, Skolnick described how to find the Shrine of the Fallen Warrior. This was a destination that I made sure to go visit before Cataclysm. I’d been there before. The screenshots you see in this blog were taken on June 20, 2010.
Elwynn Forest Waterfall
In episode seven of Skolnick’s Warcraft Less Traveled podcast, he talks about the Elwynn Forest Waterfall. The Elwynn Forest Waterfall is something that you have flown over many times, probably while riding on a Gryphon. It used to take quite a bit of effort to actually get there and explore it before Cataclysm.
I did manage to explore this destination before Cataclysm. The screenshots you see in this blog were taken on July 7, 2010.
Quel’thalas Tower
In episode six of Skolnick’s Warcraft Less Traveled podcast, he gave directions for how to get to the Quel’thalas Tower.
This is a location that I visited before Cataclysm. The first time, it was so that I could attend an RP wedding event. If I remember correctly, I was “summoned” into the location. Obviously, this meant that I had no idea how to actually get there on my own, until I heard this episode of Warcraft Less Traveled.
These screenshots are from my second visit to the Quel’thalas Tower. They were taken on June 6, 2010.
Tanaris Underwater Mining Village
In episode number five of Skolnick’s Warcraft Less Traveled podcast, he talked about the Tanaris Underwater Mining Village. This was a location that I tried, many times, to get to before Cataclysm. Sadly, my attempts all ended in failure. Therefore, I don’t have any personal screenshots to show you of what this location looked like before Cataclysm.
After Cataclysm, Hansbrix and I attempted to try and find the Tanaris Underwater Mining Village, hoping it was still there. The screenshots you see in this blog were taken on January 10, 2012.
Ironforge Airport – After Cataclysm
One of the great things that happened after Cataclysm was that players were now able to use their flying mounts in Eastern Kingdoms.
As a result, Hansbrix and I no longer had to make the frustrating, tedious, journey up the mountain, on foot, to get to what once was commonly referred to as “the Ironforge Airport”. Instead, we flew through Dun Morogh. The screenshots you see in this blog were taken on January 9, 2012
Ironforge Airport – Before Cataclysm
I was able to visit the Ironforge Airport before Cataclysm. I took dozens of screenshots of my journey, and intended on putting them into this blog. But then, I ran out of time.
Until now! The inspiration for this trip came from Skolnick’s Warcraft Less Traveled podcast. In episode three, he described in great detail exactly how to get to the Ironforge Airport. The screenshots you see in this blog were taken on November 7, 2010.
