Diablo Creativity, Diablo III 0 comments on It’s Time for a D3 Token

It’s Time for a D3 Token

A few months ago, Blizzard introduced the WoW Token. It wasn’t an entirely new concept, since other games have used something similar, but it was new for World of Warcraft players. In short, it gave players a safe way to purchase gold directly from Blizzard.

It also enabled players to use the in-game gold currency to pay for game time (instead of having to use real world currency). Diablo III is not subscription based, so that part of the WoW Token doesn’t relate to Diablo III. Even so, I think it is time for a D3 Token to be added to the game.

World of Warcraft, World of Warcraft other 1 comment on My Thoughts About the WoW Token

My Thoughts About the WoW Token

I am what can be described as an extremely casual World of Warcraft player. I don’t have any Level 100 characters, have barely touched the Mists of Pandaria content, and am currently spending most of my WoW time on a low level Dwarf Priest (who is running with my husband’s low level Dwarf hunter). This is not a complaint, as I am quite happy where I am at in the game. I’m having fun.

It seems to me that many video game related blogs are primarily intended as a source of news. There is nothing wrong with this. Personally, I just don’t have it in me to keep up with WoW in the way that several other writers are able to. When the WoW Token was first revealed, there were tons of blogs that discussed it. Now, a few months later, I’m finally ready to share my thoughts about it.

Flight Rising, Other Video Games 0 comments on Flight Rising: Making Ugly Dragons Prettier

Flight Rising: Making Ugly Dragons Prettier

Flight Rising is a game where players are in charge of a Lair full of dragons. Pick a male and a female – breed them – and see what the babies look like. There are things in the game that can help players figure out what the babies might look like before they commit to breeding two potential parent dragons. Sometimes, despite best efforts, players end up with some severely ugly dragons.

That’s not necessarily a bad thing. Some people are greatly amused by ugly dragons. There’s even a Tumblr blog called Ugly Dragons of Flight Rising. Recently, I intentionally purchased what might be considered an ugly dragon from the Auction House. I found a way to make her much prettier!

All of the artwork in this post is copyright of Flight Rising.

Book Reviews, science fiction 0 comments on Star Wars: Dark Force Rising – by Timothy Zahn

Star Wars: Dark Force Rising – by Timothy Zahn

Star Wars: Dark Force Rising is book two in a three-book cycle. It is part of what has been referred to as “The Thrawn Trilogy”. All three books were written by Timothy Zahn. It is my understanding that this trilogy is not considered to be canon in Star Wars lore. Personally, I enjoyed the first book in the series, Star Wars: Heir to the Empire, and was equally impressed by this second book.

I would recommend that people read Star Wars: Heir to the Empire, the first book in this trilogy, before diving into the second book. Book Two picks up shortly after Book One left off. Skip the first book, and you miss out on much of the plot that continues to weave through the story. In short, this book has an impressive amount of characterization and backstory on a race that could easily have been neglected. It also is filled with political intrigue.
