Shortly after the 2017 Fall pollen season ended, California went up in flames. It seemed like the majority of the state was on fire at the same time. I was fortunate that there were no fires near me, but the smoke from other fires filled the air.
I assumed that the unexpected sore throat I had was due to the fires. Then, I figured it must be a strange sort of sinus infection. It turned out to be tonsillitis – something I’ve never had before.
In this episode, I read a piece that I wrote in 2015, but that was about something that happened in the early 1990s. This episode is part of my participation in NaPodPoMo 2017.
The piece is called “How a Telemarketing Company Got Rid of Cheaters“.

I wrote “How a Telemarketing Company Got Rid of Cheaters” in February of 2015, on a website that no longer exists. It was a website that paid writers based on a confusing mix of page-clicks and ad revenue.
At the time I wrote this piece, the website was having a gigantic problem with plagiarizers who stole other people’s work (from both outside and inside the website) and expected to be paid for it. This was my response – a gigantic “subtweet” – to the plagiarizers and the website itself.
