Hearthstone: Free Packs from Goblins vs Gnomes Expansion

Blizzard Entertainment did something that I thought was very generous. When the Goblins vs Gnomes expansion launched, they gave all players three free packs of cards to open. These packs held cards from the new expansion.

Naturally, I did not hesitate to open those packs! This blog shows what cards I received. All the screenshots you see in this blog were taken on December 15, 2014.

Hearthstone: Goblins vs Gnomes Pre-Launch Event

I would describe myself as a very casual player of Hearthstone.  I have been doing Ranked Play (when I like the card back enough to fight for it), but I typically find it frustrating.  As such, I rarely ever venture into the Arena.  It just doesn’t seem like the right place for me.

So far, I’ve gone into the Arena twice.  The first time was when I got a quest that let me get into the Arena for free.  The second time was this one – when Blizzard let everyone into the Arena for free (one time, only) so they could check out the new Goblins vs Gnomes cards before the expansion was released.  This was the pre-launch event for the expansion.

Hearthstone: Opening the Collector’s Edition Packs

The Collector’s Edition of Diablo III: Reaper of Souls came with extra goodies. One of those special little extras was a card that held a total of three Hearthstone codes on it. At the time, I was super excited about Diablo III: Reaper of Souls, so I promptly forgot about the Hearthstone codes.

Recently, I remembered them. Each code is for one free pack of Hearthstone cards. I’ve heard that each pack could, potentially, contain a Legendary card. What did my card packs have in them?  I opened these card packs on October 4, 2014 and on October 6, 2014.

Hearthstone: Opening an Arena Pack

Recently, I ventured into the Arena in Hearthstone for the very first time.  Things didn’t go well.  I lost all three matches, and that was the end of that.  The entire reason why I went into the Arena was because I had a quest appear that let me try it out for free.  I do not feel that the Arena will be a priority for me at this time.

Even when you lose in Hearthstone, you still earn some experience points.  I learned that losing all three matches in the Arena still results in receiving a prize.  One of the prizes I got was a pack of cards, which I have now opened.  These screenshots were taken on August 10, 2014.

Hearthstone: Curse of Naxxramas – Heroic Arachnid Quarter – Anub’Rekhan

Curse of Naxxramus is the new solo adventure content in Hearthstone.  I’ve finished the Normal Mode and the two class challenges in this section.  The next step is to try the Heroic Mode.

So far, I have been really unsuccessful with this part!  Try as I might, I cannot defeat Anub’Rekhan in Heroic.  Instead, I ended up using it as a way to level up some of my decks that still needed to unlock cards.  I also took this opportunity to experiment with building a customized deck (something I’d never tried before).

Hearthstone: Opening a Pack

My primary motivation for writing this blog, right now, is because my computer’s start up disk is full (again).  Blizzard Entertainment has blessed me with lots and lots of patches to their games, the WoD beta, and the HOTS Alpha.  I can’t keep them all, so I’m going to temporarily delete Hearthstone for a while.

The secondary motivation for writing this blog is to use up some Hearthstone screenshots that I’ve been meaning to put into a blog.  Desperation has inspired me to become efficient, it seems.

Hearthstone: Curse of Naxxramus – Arachnid Quarter – Rogue Class Challenge

The Curse of Naxxramus is a solo adventure that you can play in Hearthstone.  This blog is about the Rogue Class Challenge that is in the Arachnid Quarter portion of the adventure.  First, you must beat all three of the bosses in the Arachnid Quarter in “Normal” difficulty.  This unlocks the two class challenges.  In this blog, I will focus on the Rogue Class Challenge.

It took me two tries to get through the Rogue Class Challenge.  The screenshots that you see in this blog were taken on July 29, 2014.  The next step, after completing both the Class Challenges in the Arachnid Quarter is to fight against the bosses in “Heroic” difficulty.

Hearthstone: Curse of Naxxramus – Arachnid Quarter – Druid Class Challenge

The Curse of Naxxramus is a solo adventure that you can play in Hearthstone.  At the time I am writing this blog, the Arachnid Quarter is available for players to open up.  More new content will unlock in the weeks to come. First, you must defeat the 3 bosses in “Normal” difficulty.  That is how you unlock the Class Challenges for this section of the Curse of Naxxramus content.

There are two Class Challenges: one for the Druid deck, and one for the Rogue deck.  I decided to start with the Druid Class Challenge.  It took two tries for me to get through it.  The screenshots you see in this blog were taken on July 27, 2014.

Hearthstone: Curse of Naxxramas – Arachnid Quarter

Hearthstone has a brand new adventure for players to enjoy!  It’s called Curse of Naxxramas. The adventure is slowly being opened up, week by week.  At the time I am making this blog, players can check out the first week of the adventure – Arachnid Quarter.  You fight against new bosses who have decks with cards that have never been in Heartstone before.  Unlock the three bosses of the week, and you gain access to more parts of the adventure.

Hearthstone: Unlocking the Hunter and Warrior Decks

I had just enough time to play one match in Hearthstone. I have a habit of playing video games really late at night/crazy early in the morning. My concern was I would start playing and fall asleep at the computer.

What I decided to do was go into Practice Mode and see if I could unlock another deck.  That way, if I fell asleep, I wouldn’t be making another player frustrated as he or she waited for me to take my turn.  Here is how I unlocked the Hunter Deck and the Warrior Deck.
