It’s Not About the Photos – Episode 010

Back in October of 2014, the big thing in the news was that the nude photos of celebrities had been stolen from “the cloud” and distributed online without permission.  All of the photos were of female celebrities.

I read “It’s Not About the Photos” on episode 10 of Words of Jen.

It’s Not About the Photos

I wrote this in early October of 2014, in response to something that was being talked about in the news. Several celebrities – all female – had their nude photos stolen and distributed without their permission. Here are my thoughts about that situation.

I read this piece in episode 10 of my Words of Jen podcast. (The photo above comes from Pixabay.)

Taco Tuesday – Episode 009

Many places have a Taco Tuesday discount once a week.  People can go in and get a tasty, inexpensive meal, and the restaurant makes a lot of money on a weekday evening.  Taco Tuesday can be relaxing.

In episode 9 of Words of Jen, I read “Taco Tuesday“, which I wrote in 2012.  Taco Tuesday isn’t usually this dramatic.

But I Was Just Explaining… – Episode 008

In this episode, I read a poem that I wrote in 2016.  It is based on something that happened on Twitter.  I think there are many women out there (and possibly some men) who have had the same, unfortunate, annoying, experience as I did.

The poem is titled: “But I Was Just Explaining…

But I Was Just Explaining…

This poem was written in 2016 about an unwanted “discussion” (for lack of a better word) that I got pulled into online. I had retweeted something that was both political and about women’s access to health care.

Somehow, this was enough to inspire a guy whom I only vaguely knew to flood my Twitter feed with angry, “mansplaining” comments. I’m quite certain that other women have had the same, draining, frustrating experience that I did.

I read this poem in episode 8 of Words of Jen.  (The photo above comes from StockSnap.io).

Recycling Fail! – Episode 007

In this episode, I read a piece of writing that I wrote in 2016.  It is about something that really happened that caused Shawn and I to stop bringing our recyclables to the RePlanet facilities.

The piece is called “Recycling Fail!

How a Telemarketing Company Got Rid of Cheaters – Episode 006

In this episode, I read a piece that I wrote in 2015, but that was about something that happened in the early 1990s.  This episode is part of my participation in NaPodPoMo 2017.

The piece is called “How a Telemarketing Company Got Rid of Cheaters“.

How a Telemarketing Company Got Rid of Cheaters

I wrote “How a Telemarketing Company Got Rid of Cheaters” in February of 2015, on a website that no longer exists.  It was a website that paid writers based on a confusing mix of page-clicks and ad revenue.

At the time I wrote this piece, the website was having a gigantic problem with plagiarizers who stole other people’s work (from both outside and inside the website) and expected to be paid for it.  This was my response – a gigantic “subtweet” – to the plagiarizers and the website itself.

I read “How a Telemarketing Company Got Rid of Cheaters” in episode 6 of my Words of Jen podcast.
