In this episode, I read a poem that I wrote in 2016. It is based on something that happened on Twitter. I think there are many women out there (and possibly some men) who have had the same, unfortunate, annoying, experience as I did.

This poem was written in 2016 about an unwanted “discussion” (for lack of a better word) that I got pulled into online. I had retweeted something that was both political and about women’s access to health care.
Somehow, this was enough to inspire a guy whom I only vaguely knew to flood my Twitter feed with angry, “mansplaining” comments. I’m quite certain that other women have had the same, draining, frustrating experience that I did.

In this episode, I read a piece of writing that I wrote in 2016. It is about something that really happened that caused Shawn and I to stop bringing our recyclables to the RePlanet facilities.

I wrote this piece of writing in 2016. It is about some changes that happened at RePlanet that caused us to stop taking our recyclables there.

Shortly after the 2017 Fall pollen season ended, California went up in flames. It seemed like the majority of the state was on fire at the same time. I was fortunate that there were no fires near me, but the smoke from other fires filled the air.
I assumed that the unexpected sore throat I had was due to the fires. Then, I figured it must be a strange sort of sinus infection. It turned out to be tonsillitis – something I’ve never had before.
In this episode, I read a piece that I wrote in 2015, but that was about something that happened in the early 1990s. This episode is part of my participation in NaPodPoMo 2017.

I wrote “How a Telemarketing Company Got Rid of Cheaters” in February of 2015, on a website that no longer exists. It was a website that paid writers based on a confusing mix of page-clicks and ad revenue.
At the time I wrote this piece, the website was having a gigantic problem with plagiarizers who stole other people’s work (from both outside and inside the website) and expected to be paid for it. This was my response – a gigantic “subtweet” – to the plagiarizers and the website itself.

The story is called “The Saga of the Hot Water Heater“. It is a true story about when my husband and I had absolutely no hot water due to a broken hot water heater.
