The Darkening of Tristram – I Sense A Soul in Search Of Answers Achievement

The Darkening of Tristram is an event in Diablo III that takes place in January. There are several Achievements that a player can earn that are connected to the event.

The Achievement called I Sense A Soul In Search Of Answers involves collecting Cultist Pages. Players need to kill off a specific type of Cultist NPCs (Non-Player Characters) until they obtain all the pages.

My Allergies Require Too Much Research

I have a multitude of food allergies. This requires me to spend time doing research before consuming anything. Things get more complicated when something that used to be safe changes some ingredients, or I randomly start having an allergic reaction to things that didn’t cause me problems before.

This leads to unwanted research adventures as I try to figure out what went wrong. I posted my most recent experience with this problem on social media and added in some more details here.

The Darkening of Tristram – Protector of Tristram Achievement

Protector of Tristram is the third in a series of Achievements that players can earn during The Darkening of Tristram event. To earn it, you must kill all of the unique monsters from the Labyrinth. (In other words, kill every monster on the list).

I was unable to complete this series of Achievements the first time The Darkening of Tristram was added to the game. Fortunately, these Achievements “stick” and I was able to finish the series the next year. I simply picked up where I left off.

Things to Know About the 2017 – 2018 Flu Season

Every year, some people get infected by a flu virus. The strains tend to vary from year to year. The 2017-2018 flu season was especially nasty and dangerous.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) state that the single best way to prevent seasonal flu is to get vaccinated each year. Good habits like covering your cough and washing your hands often can help stop the spread of germs and prevent respiratory illnesses like the flu. There also are flu antiviral drugs that can be used to treat and prevent flu.

This blog will be updated when I find additional, relevant, information about the 2017-2018 flu season.

Water Shut Off During Flu Season

On February 1, 2018, I discovered that our water had been shut off.  It happened in the wee hours of the morning, when most people were sleeping. This made me very anxious, in part because we were in the midst of a horrible flu season.

I posted a series of tweets about this annoying experience on Twitter, and later decided to post it here (with additional information added.)

Why Helium Failed – Episode 033

In this episode, I read a piece of writing that I wrote on December 14, 2014, about what it was like to write for a content farm. The piece was written a few days before a website called Helium closed down forever.

I read “Why Helium Failed” in episode 33 of Words of Jen.

Why Helium Failed

Helium was the first “pay by the page click” website that I contributed to.  I probably made my first post there in 2005.  To the best if my knowledge, it was one of the very first “pay by the page click” websites.

Later, after a series of unfortunate changes, Helium ended up closing (on December 14, 2014).  I wrote this piece on December 12, 2014, a few days before Helium shut down.

I read “Why Helium Failed” on episode 33 of my Words of Jen podcast.
