Jason Chaffetz Thinks Poor People Shouldn’t Have iPhones

Representative Jason Chaffetz (Republican – Utah) made the following comment when he was trying to defend the horrible health care plan that the GOP released.  They want to replace “Obamacare” with their plan, which will, in short, cause a whole lot of harm to poor people – especially poor people who have chronic or serious illnesses.

Here is what Representative Jason Chaffetz said:

“Well, we’re getting rid of the individual mandate.  We’re getting rid of those things that people said they don’t want.  Americans have choices, and they’ve got to make a choice.  So rather than getting that new iPhone that they just love and want to go spend hundreds of dollars on that, maybe they should invest in their own health care.”

Spring Pollen Season – Day Twenty-Three

Today’s pollen count is 8.7 – and I am miserable.

I woke up because a neighbor was yelling.  It is extremely hard to wake me up, especially when I’ve been really sick for a long time.

Typically, being woken up by the sound of a man screaming would set off my PTSD, but I’m too physically depleted for that to happen.  My body doesn’t have the energy to produce the chemical reactions PTSD requires.

Spring Pollen Season – Day Twenty-One

Today, the pollen count is 7.7.  Yesterday was 7.3.

Things are getting worse and there is no end in sight.

My husband wants to know what he can do to help me feel better.  If there was something, I’d be more than happy to tell him what it is and let him do that for me.

Spring Pollen Season – Day Twenty

Twenty days of my life – destroyed by allergies

I slept all day again.  Finally got out of bed and am somewhat dazed.

It feels something like what “healthy” people feel when they have a really bad cold.  A head full of clouds and heavy lungs.

I’m unfocused and have to figure out how I’m going to manage to write the work that is due tomorrow.

Spring Pollen Season – Day Nineteen

The pollen count is a dangerous 9.4.  I figure people who have no allergies to pollen are probably feeling this one.

Earlier this pollen season, I switched over and became nocturnal – for self preservation.  I can get some work done in the wee hours of the morning before the sun comes up and then sleep through the thickest part of the pollen that spews by day.

Everything hurts.

As I write this, I’m hoping to gather enough energy so I can take a shower.

Spring Pollen Season 2017 – Day Eighteen

Yesterday, for no good reason, I decided to go outside.

There are times when I just want to pretend I’m “normal” – and can go outside for a little while and do simple things like everyone else.

My husband and I went for a little walk to a nearby restaurant that has a PokéStop – which we have done several times before.

Spring Pollen Season – Day Sixteen

I am not ok.

The cumulative effect of being exposed to too much pollen, for so many days, is taking its toll.

We have lived through 59 days in 2017 – and 16 of mine have been utterly ruined due to bad allergies that I can’t do much of anything about.

Some of the other days were very difficult due to my rheumatoid arthritis or fibromyalgia, or accidental allergen exposure.

This body was not meant to live on this planet.

Things from Mad Men that are Different from Today – Season Two

My husband and I watched the entire Mad Men series together – all seven seasons.  I put together a list of things that were in Season Two of Mad Men that are very different from today.

You may want to start with the list I made for Season One of Mad Men before reading this one.

Warning: There are spoilers.
