Cave of the Burrowing Horror (Season 2)

This blog is part of the series I am doing about my progress through Season 2 of Diablo III.  My main goal for this Season is to get my hard core Demon Hunter to Level 70. If I can do that, I will unlock the Seasonal transmog.

I’m having a hard time this Season due “in real life” health issues. As a result, I’m taking things much slower than I did in Season 1.

The screenshots you see in this blog were taken on March 11, 2015. It was the same day that Blizzard announced that they would be giving players a two week notice before Season 2 would end. This announcement was not the notice, but many of us sort of freaked out and jumped into Diablo III really quick anyway.

Lair of the Lacuni Event (Season 2)

This blog is part of the series I am doing about my progress through Season 2 in Diablo III. I’m playing a hard core Demon Hunter named Dusk.

My primary goal is to get him to Level 70 during the Season so I can unlock the cool transmogs that go with it. Things are moving pretty slowly so far, and that’s mostly due to Season 2 falling right into a really bad allergy season for me.

In this blog, I finally move Dusk the Demon Hunter from Act I to Act II (Normal difficulty). I started working on some Act II bounties in an effort to earn the Bounty related Achievements. The screenshots you see in this blog were taken on March 7, 2015.

Finding Arghus the Collector (Season 2)

A Demon Hunter carries a large, feathered, crossbow. He is wearing a mix of reasonably tough armor. Next to him is a green banner with some symbols on it. Above his head it says "Hardcore Seasonal".

This blog is part of the series I am doing that shows my progress through Season 2 in Diablo III. I’m playing a hard core Demon Hunter named Dusk this time.

I’m taking things slowly because Season 2 just happened to appear during what has been a really bad allergy season for me. Hard core characters have “one life to live”. I don’t want my Demon Hunter to die because I sneezed at the wrong moment or was zoned out on allergy medication.

Killing the Dataminer (Season 2)

This blog is part of the series I am doing that focuses on my progress through Season 2 in Diablo III.  Last Season, I poured all my time and energy into it right from the start. This Season, I’m taking things really slow.  This is not entirely by choice.  I’ve been fighting “in real life” with some seriously monstrous pollen, and it seems to be winning.

As such, I don’t want my hard core Demon Hunter, who I named Dusk, to die due to my bad allergies.  If I can get him to Level 70, I’ll feel a little less hesitant about playing Diablo III while sick (or on a lot of allergy medication).

This time around, I continued to do a bunch of Bounties in Act I in Normal Difficulty.  I’m trying to finish the Seasonal Monster Slaying Achievements for Act I.  Once I do that, I can move on to Act II.  The screenshots you see in this blog were taken on February 27, 2015.

Helping Vendel the Armorsmith (Season 2)

This blog is part of the series I am doing that focuses on my progress in Season 2 in Diablo III. So far, I haven’t played as much as I did during Season 1. I’m still having fun, that’s not the problem.

Instead, the difficulty I’m having is due to stuff outside the game. The pollen count has been “medium-high”, and this causes me have to take a lot of allergy medications (that make me sleepy). It sounds like a recipe for a very dead hard core Demon Hunter. Death by allergy.

So, I’m taking things slow. In this blog, I focus on Dusk the Demon Hunter’s progress through Act I Bounties (in Normal difficulty). I need one more Seasonal Monster Slaying Achievement from Act I, and then I can move him on to Act II Bounties. The screenshots you see in this blog were taken on February 24, 2015.

The Raven’s Wing and Homing Pads (Season 2)

This blog is part of the series I am doing that focuses on my progress in Season 2 of Diablo III. In this Season, I’m playing a hard core Demon Hunter named Dusk. My primary goal is to get him to Level 70 (in part because it unlocks some nice transmogs). If I accomplish that goal, I will pick a new one to go after.

I’ve been taking things slow this time around in part due to time constraints and also because I’ve been having some really bad allergy days. When that happens, I either end up on allergy drugs that make it hard to focus, or I fall asleep. Neither situation is good for playing hard core! In this blog, I focus on the fourth “session” I played in Season 2. These screenshots were taken on February 21, 2015.

Helping Rike the Apothecary (Season 2)

This blog is part of the series I am doing about my progress in Season 2 of Diablo III.  I’ve got a hard core Demon Hunter named Dusk and my goal is to get him to Level 70.  If I accomplish that goal, I will come up with another one to shoot for.

In Season 1, I played a soft core Barbarian named Gurr.  I started him in Story Mode, spent a lot of time there, and eventually moved on to some Adventure Mode.  For Season 2, I wanted to change the way I play Diablo III as much as I could.  Or, at the very least, do something different than the path I took through Season 1.  This blog shows my first attempt at soloing bounties in hard core.  The screenshots you see in this blog were taken on February 18, 2015.

Taking Things Slow to the Jar of Souls (Season 2)

This blog is part of the series I am doing about my progress in Season 2 of Diablo III. This time around, I’m working on leveling up a hard core Demon Hunter named Dusk. My primary goal is to get him to Level 70 so I can unlock the transmogs that are exclusive to Season 2. If I accomplish that goal – I’ll pick another one to work towards.

The screenshots you see in this blog were taken on February 15, 2015. I decided to do some solo play through parts of Act I in Normal difficulty. In other words, I was playing it extremely safe. I was having a bad allergy day and was worried that this would affect my ability to focus on the game. So, I took things slow and hoped to level up my Demon Hunter a little bit more.

The Adventure of Dusk Begins! (Season 2)

Diablo III Season 2 started on February 13, 2015. I had the opportunity to get on Mumble and start off Season 2 by talking with, and gaming with, friends of mine. It is rare that I decide to get on Mumble while I’m playing video games and I’m really happy I did it. I think that Season 2 is going to be about pushing out of my “comfort zone” in Diablo III.

In Season 1, I spent the entire Season playing a soft core Barbarian (named Gurr). Barbarians are so much fun to play, and I had a great time. Before Season 2 started, I decided that I was going to play a hard core Demon Hunter this time around. I chose a male character because I’ve already got a female Demon Hunter who is at Level 70.

My new Seasonal Demon Hunter is named Dusk. The inspiration came from a Tweet sent by Neil Degrasse Tyson, who noted that we have a lot of people named Dawn, but no one named Dusk. I think the name fits the mood of a Demon Hunter. The screenshots you see in this blog are from February 13, 2015.

End of Season 1 Wrap Up

Season 1 in Diablo III is officially over and done with.  Players who participated will find their Seasonal character in the same place that their non-season characters are located.  I recommend that players who had a Seasonal character take a moment to retrieve all of that character’s loot from their mail before the time limit on that runs out and it all disappears.

I wanted to do a “wrap up” about Season 1, in part because it seemed like a nice way to end the series of blogs that I’d been writing about it.  One of my goals was to finish blogging about Season 1 at around the same time that the Season ended.  The other reason I wanted to do a “wrap up” was to have a place for the loose ends that are floating around in my head about Season 1. As such, this post might be a bit more scattered than usual as I cover all the “leftovers”.
