Diablo III: Storm of Light by Nate Kenyon

Diablo III Storm of Light by Nate KenyonDiablo III: Storm of Light is Nate Kenyon’s second book that was written in the Diablo “universe”. Like his first one, Diablo III: The Order, this book is about situations and adventures that take place just outside of the story you learn as you play through the Diablo III game.  If you ever wondered what happened in between Act IV and Act V in Diablo III, this is the book that has the answers you are seeking.

This book review will not include any “spoilers” from the book.  However, I am going to reference parts of the Diablo III video game.  If you are someone who has not yet completed the game through the end of Act IV, you may want to bookmark this review and return to it after you have seen the cinematic for Act V.

Diablo A to Z, Diablo III, Diablo Lore 1 comment on U is for Urzael

U is for Urzael

This blog was supposed to be for the A to Z Blogging Challenge that took place in April.  The rules require participants to write one blog for each letter of the alphabet, and to post them on the correct day.  My intentions were good, but my choice of subject matter turned out to be overwhelming.

I used the challenge as a “jumping off point” so I would finally push myself to start writing about Diablo III (and its “universe”).  I’m still interested in writing about the topics I selected.  The difference is that I can do it on my one time frame now.

U is for Urzael.  Players had not heard of him until they got far enough along in the Reaper of Souls expansion to be “introduced” to him.  Who is this new angel, what is his history, and why do we care?

Diablo A to Z, Diablo III 1 comment on T is for Templar

T is for Templar

This blog was supposed to be completed in April as part of the A to Z Blogging Challenge.  The rules for the challenge require you to write one blog, every day, during the month of April.  It can be about anything you want, so long as you find a way to make each topic fit the letter of the day.  I wanted to use the experience as a way to push myself to get started writing about Diablo III (and its “universe”).

Unfortunately, that proved to be a bigger task than I expected.  I had a lot to say about the Diablo III topics I selected, and I needed some time to research each blog (to make sure I was spelling things correctly and had the lore right).  As such, I did not complete the A to Z Challenge.  I still wanted to write about the topics I picked, though.  The only difference is that they can now be completed whenever I have time.

T is for Templar.  The Templar is one of the Followers that players get in Diablo III.  Kormac the Templar goes through a lot of character development from the first time the player encounters him through Act V.  In this blog, I wanted to share some of my thoughts about the Templar. (There are some “spoilers” here for those who have not completed Act V in Diablo III: Reaper of Souls.)

The End of the Reaper of Souls Beta

This is the final blog in my series about the Diablo III: Reaper of Souls beta. I am happy that I was able to experience it. My only regret is that it took me so long to finish blogging about it. I’m trying to get quicker at blogging video game stuff.

In the previous blog, Joan the Crusader had hit Level 28. She never made it to Level 29. The RoS beta closed really abruptly. The screenshots you see in this blog were taken on February 24, 2014.

RoS Beta – Level 28: More Stash Space!

This blog is part of the series I have been writing about my experiences in the Diablo III: Reaper of Souls beta.  The beta ended months ago, but I’m not done blogging about it.  These blogs are my way of sharing my thoughts and experiences about the Diablo III Reaper of Souls beta.  It was an honor to be included in the beta, and something that I want to remember.

I was playing a female Crusader (whom I named Joan).  In the previous blog, Joan the Crusader hit Level 27.  This blog will showcase her adventure as she went from Level 27 to Level 28.  The screenshots that you see here were taken on February 24, 2014.

RoS Beta – Level 27: Shrine of Rakanishu Event

This blog is part of the series about my experiences in the Diablo III: Reaper of Souls Beta.  The beta has been over and done with for months now, and I will be done blogging about it soon.  These blogs are my way of sharing my thoughts about the game as I played through the RoS beta.  Looking back, I wish I did this type of blogging for the original Diablo III beta (but that just wasn’t possible for me at the time).

In my previous blog, my Crusader, Joan, hit level 26.  This blog will feature her adventure as she went from Level 26 to Level 27.  The screenshots you see in this blog were taken on February 24, 2014.

RoS Beta – Level 26: Changes to Griswold’s Scribblings

This blog is part of the series about my experiences in the Diablo III: Reaper of Souls beta.  The beta has been over for a long time now, but I’m not done blogging about it.  These blogs are my way of sharing my thoughts about the game as I was playing through the beta.  I’ve no idea if I will get into the next Diablo III beta (or if there will even be one) so I may as well blog this one well.

In my previous blog, my Crusader, Joan, hit Level 25.  This blog will feature her adventure as she went from Level 25 to Level 26.  Some of the screenshots that you see in this blog were taken on January 24, 2014.  The rest were taken on February 24, 2014.  (I must have been waiting for a new monitor to game on!)

RoS Beta – Level 25: I Need an Icon

This blog is part of my series about my experience in the Diablo III: Reaper of Souls beta. The beta is over, and the expansion has been out for a little while now. I still have things that I wanted to share about it, so I may as well finish the series.

In my previous blog, my Crusader, Joan had just hit Level 24. This blog will feature her adventure as she went from Level 24 to Level 25.

Unfortunately, my computer monitor died while Joan the Crusader was working her way through Level 23. As such, the screenshots from that point onward were taken while I was using a really old monitor. They are square, and everything is squished together on the screen. The things one must do in order to keep playing a beta! The screenshots you see in this blog were taken on January 24, 2014.

Diablo Creativity, Diablo III 0 comments on NPCs as Chibis

NPCs as Chibis

Recently, I used Chibi Maker to create cute, little, Chibis of all of the player classes in Diablo III. It was so much fun to play around with that I decided to see if I could turn some of the NPC (non-player characters) into Chibis.

This took a bit more imagination than I anticipated, but I think they came out cute anyway.

A long time ago, I decided that it would be fun to make some of the Diablo III characters as Chibis (especially the player classes).  My plan was to sit down and draw them all, but I never ended up finding the time to do it.  I’m really happy that the Chibi Maker is so easy to use.

Diablo Creativity, Diablo III 1 comment on All the Classes as Chibis

All the Classes as Chibis

A while ago, I got the idea into my head that I wanted to draw all of the classes in Diablo III as chibis. I’ve never actually drawn anything as a chibi before, so this was going to be a challenge. I have a background in art, so I believed I would succeed in the chibi drawings once I got started on them. The problem, as usual, was that I never found the time to give it a try.

Fortunately, someone I follow on Twitter posted a tweet about Chibi Maker.  It is described as a “game”, but it is actually more of a paper doll maker kind of thing.  You can use it to select features and clothing and it will automatically put your choices into a chibi.  It is super easy to use and you can save a copy of the chibi you create.  It didn’t take long for me to make a chibi for all of the classes in Diablo III (female versions).
