C is for Consent

This blog is part of my contribution to the A to Z Blogging Challenge. Those who are participating can write about any topic they want to – so long as it fits with the letter of the day. I have decided to use this Challenge as a good reason to get started writing about Diablo III (and the “universe” it exists in).

C is for Consent.  Sanctuary is a dangerous place.  As I’ve played through Diablo III, it dawned on me that not everyone in Sanctuary has given their consent about what ended up happening to them.  Only a select few have the option to decide whether or not they want to give consent to be involved in a particular situation.  For the most part, though, the people who live on Sanctuary are powerless to prevent some really terrible things from happening to their bodies.  To me, this adds even more horror to an already tragic situation.

B is for Barbarian

This blog is part of my contribution to the A to Z Blogging Challenge. I write about a wide variety of topics, but have decided to make all of the blogs for this challenge about Diablo III (and the “universe” it exists in). This challenge provided the perfect excuse for me to finally go ahead and start writing about the game (instead of just posting screenshots).

B is for Barbarian. When Diablo III was first released, it offered players a total of 5 classes to choose from: Barbarian, Demon Hunter, Monk, Witch Doctor and Wizard. The Reaper of Souls expansion added a 6th class – Crusader. Each class can be played as either a male or a female character.

If you choose to play a female Demon Hunter, Monk, Witch Doctor, Wizard, or Crusader, your character will be a slender, yet curvy, woman. There are differences in hair color, skin tone, and voice between all of the classes. The female Barbarian, however, looks quite different from the rest. She is this large, tall, strong woman who towers above the other classes. I am really happy that Blizzard Entertainment (maker of Diablo III) made that choice!

A is for Angel

I am writing this blog as part of the Blogging From A to Z Challenge.  I have decided to make all of my “A to Z” blogs about Diablo III. I’ve been wanting to try my hand at writing about the game and the “universe” it exists in. Now seems like the perfect time to start.

A is for Angel. What, exactly, are the angels the Diablo “universe”? The first thing one must do in order to learn the answer to that question is to set aside whatever religious concepts you currently have about angels. The Diablo “universe” (and Sanctuary) are not a replica of the universe in real life. The religions that exist in the real world do not have a direct connection to the “universe” of Diablo.

Diablo Creativity, Diablo III 1 comment on Reaper of Souls Launch Party

Reaper of Souls Launch Party

Blizzard Entertainment held an “invite-only” Launch Party for the Diablo III: Reaper of Souls expansion. This was the very first time they held a Launch Party for an expansion for any of their games. Shawn and I were lucky enough to attend because we are both involved with the Shattered Soulstone podcast. The Launch Party was really fun, and I am thankful that I had the opportunity to attend. In this blog, I will share my photos from the event.

Reaper of Souls – Autographed Collectors Edition Unboxing

A few of us from the Shattered Soulstone podcast were invited to attend the Launch Party for the Diablo III: Reaper of Souls expansion. Those that attended received a Collectors Edition and had the opportunity to have it signed by many of the people who were involved with the game (in one way or another). I am incredibly grateful to have been invited to this event and happy to have met so many wonderful people.

I decided to do an unboxing of my autographed Collectors Edition of Diablo III: Reaper of Souls. I’m doing it with photos instead of a video. The photos will give you a clearer look at the signatures on the box.

Diablo III, Reaper of Souls beta 0 comments on RoS Beta – Level 20: The Halls of Agony

RoS Beta – Level 20: The Halls of Agony

This blog is part of my series about my thoughts and impressions of the Diablo III: Reaper of Souls beta.  The beta is over, but I still think it is worth it to take the time to blog about it.  Doing so gives me the opportunity to share what I was thinking as I was playing through the beta.  As I have been writing this series, I realized that part of what I am doing is making a brief “tutorial” of sorts, that might be helpful to people who didn’t play Diablo III, but are going to be jumping into the Diablo III: Reaper of Souls expansion.

I was playing a Crusader that I named Joan.  In the previous blog, Joan hit Level 19.  This blog is about her adventure from Level 19 to Level 20.  The screenshots that you see here were taken on January 4, 2014.

RoS Beta – Level 19: Karyna’s Lost Wagon

This blog is part of my series about my experiences in the Diablo III: RoS beta. The beta has ended, but I still wanted to share my thoughts about it. Who knows? Maybe one or two of the things I write about for this series will end up being really relevant after the expansion comes out. If anything, I think my blogs about the beta are a good way for new players to get some information about the game.

I was playing a Crusader named Joan. The last blog ended with her hitting Level 18. This blog picks up from there and shares her adventure from Level 18 to Level 19. All of the screenshots you see in this blog were taken on January 4, 2014.

RoS Beta – Level 18: Throwing Blessed Hammers

This blog is part of my series about my impressions of, and experiences in, the Diablo III: Reaper of Souls beta. The beta is over, and the expansion is coming out very soon! Even so, I am still interested in blogging about the RoS Beta. It gives me a chance to share what I was thinking about as I was playing through it.

Joan the Crusader hit Level 17 in the previous blog. This blog will pick up from there and show the highlights of her adventure from Level 17 to Level 18. All of the screenshots that you see in this post are from January 4, 2014.

RoS Beta – Level 17: Snarky Crusader Comment for Magda

This blog is part of my series about my experience in the Diablo III: Reaper of Souls Beta.   It has ended, but I am still interested in sharing my thoughts about it.   I was playing a Crusader that I named Joan.

In the previous blog, Joan the Crusader hit Level 16 and was working her way to Level 17.  All of the screenshots that you see in this blog were taken on December 23, 2013.

RoS Beta – Level 16: Carrion Farm Event

This blog is part of the series I have been writing about my experience in the Diablo III: Reaper of Souls beta.  I played a female Crusader that I named Joan.   The beta, of course, is over.  Even so,  I wanted to continue to blog about it because it gives me the opportunity to share my thoughts about the beta.  Most of the screenshots in this blog were taken on December 20, 2013.  Some of the later ones were taken on December 23, 2013.  Previously, Joan the Crusader had just hit Level 15.  This blog picks up with her experience from Level 15 to Level 16.
