Spring Pollen Season – Day Twenty-Eight

Once again, I worked through the night and went to sleep when the sun came up and my eyes started itching.

Today’s 9.3 isn’t noticeably better than yesterday’s 9.4.

I slept for twelve hours straight and would have slept more if my husband hadn’t woken me up for dinner.

Spring Pollen Season – Day Eight

I have decided to stick with the tactic of becoming nocturnal. In the wee hours of this morning, I managed to get a lot of work done. Then, the sun came up and the pollen made my eyes itch.

Then, I slept all day. (Ok, until mid-afternoon. Perhaps that isn’t all day.)

Today the pollen count is 6.6. It’s not a good number for me, but could be much worse. Anything that close to 7 makes me ill.

Spring Pollen Season – A Brief Reprieve!

We managed to make one more trip to the marketplace to stock up on provisions yesterday. The rain started shortly after we returned home.

It has been raining all night and through today, a good, strong, serious rain. With thunder! This blessed rain has not only knocked all the pollen out of the air, but also washed it off our vehicle, our home, and the streets.

Today I shall breathe very well indeed.

An Open Letter to My Online Followers

Dear online followers,

I’m not in a good place right now.

I got sick on Christmas due to overload of allergens, and haven’t managed to recover from that yet.  The upcoming spring pollen season is probably going to start in the next couple of weeks, and it will affect me very negatively.  (It has for the past two years.)

Right now, the news is all about Congress voting to repeal the Affordable Care Act.  The way I’m able to afford health insurance right now is because I get a subsidy from the Affordable Care Act to help pay for my monthly health insurance premiums.  This allows me to afford to see my rheumatologist (about every three months or so).

A Small Chance of Blindness

I was at my rheumatology appointment, letting my doctor know that things are starting to get a bit worse.  Or, more correctly, I let him know that symptoms that had gotten worse before my previous appointment had stayed the same (and had not improved).

My rheumatoid arthritis is in my hands and feet.  I work from home.  This means I don’t have to worry about how I’m going to walk to work, or safely drive, with aching feet.  My hands, however, are a different story.

I’m a writer.  I’ve been doing freelance writing for about six years now.  When my hands ache and hurt, and my finger joints swell up, it makes it impossible for me to write.  I’m no longer able to keep up with the work I’ve gotten (and hope to keep).

Working On It

This month involved working on things that could potentially improve my health.  Things are moving slowly, but hopefully headed in the right direction.

Floating Away

February was a really strange month for me. Pollen season started at about the same time I had to begin doubling the dose of a new medication. The old mobile home next door was in the process of being taken apart so it could be removed. Things got a bit surreal for most of this month.
