Where were you on 9/11?

Years ago, I wrote three separate blog posts about 9/11.  The first was about where I was when it happened.  The second was when a class of first graders asked me questions about what happened, and the third was a ceremony that the entire school participated in.

I wrote these short pieces of writing on a blog that paid writers by the page click (and that no longer exists).

I read “Where were you on 9/11” on episode 040 of my Words of Jen podcast.

The Ants Go Marching – Episode 039

In this episode, I read to you a piece of my writing that I wrote a few days ago. It is about some epic, and seemingly endless battles, in a war that I have finally won.

I read “The Ants Go Marching” in episode 039 of Words of Jen.

The Dragon is on Fire – Episode 038

In this episode, I read to you a piece of writing I wrote in 2009. It is about something that happened while I was working at my very first summer job – at an amusement park – in the late 1980’s.

I read “The Dragon is on Fire” in episode 038 of Words of Jen.

The Dragon is on Fire

I wrote this piece in 2009 on the blog of a podcast that I used to do (and that no longer is online).  This piece of writing is about real events that happened decades ago, at my first job.

The amusement park I worked at hired teenagers, and didn’t put much effort into training them before handing them the keys to one of the rides.  This amusement park closed a long time ago – and then reopened under a new owner.

I read “The Dragon is on Fire” in episode 038 of my Words of Jen podcast.

Desperately Seeking Mario – Episode 037

In this episode, I read to you a piece of writing I wrote on April 6, 2015.  It is about what happened after I got my very first smartphone. Strangers started calling me in an effort to reach someone named Mario.

I read “Desperately Seeking Mario” in episode 037 of Words of Jen.

Desperately Seeking Mario

I wrote this piece on April 6, 2015, not long after I got my very first smartphone.  Before this, I was using a flip phone, because it seemed easier. Shawn had to talk me into switching to a iPhone.

I didn’t try to transfer my old phone over to the new phone because I wanted a fresh start.  That turned out to be a mistake.

I read “Desperately Seeking Mario” in episode 037 of my Words of Jen podcast.

Memories of Toys R Us – Episode 036

In this episode, I read a piece of writing that I wrote on May 4, 2018. The inspiration for this piece came from something in the news. Toys R Us had filed for bankruptcy, and it looked like it wouldn’t be around much longer.  This caused me to feel nostalgia for Toys R Us.

I read “Memories of Toys R Us” in episode 036 of Words of Jen.

Barnes & Noble Fired Their Workers – Episode 035

In this episode, I read a piece of writing that I wrote on April 6, 2018. The piece was inspired by something that was in the news a few months ago.  Barnes & Noble had suddenly fired many of their employees.  There was a time when I worked for Barnes & Noble, and I had things to say about this news.

I read “Barnes & Noble Fired its Workers” in episode 035 of Words of Jen.
