Season 2 in Diablo III is now over and done with. I haven’t been able to keep up with the blogging about it very well, but I’ve only got a couple more to go. I figure it’s worth finishing up the series with the screenshots I have and the things I wanted to say about them.

My main goal for Season 2 was to get my hardcore Demon Hunter to Level 70. I am happy to announce that I managed to achieve that goal. Dusk the Demon Hunter hit Level 70 before Season 2 ended. The next set of goals I set for myself was to complete all the of remaining Seasonal Monster Slaying Achievements. The screenshots you see in this blog were taken on March 29, 2015.

I was hoping to get done with the Act III Monster Slaying Achievements as soon as possible.  Season 2 only had a few days left, and my ability to complete those Achievements for Act IV and V seemed more and more unlikely the longer I spent in Act III.  My main goal, of course, was to hit Level 70 with my hard core Demon Hunter.  It didn’t really matter what Act generated the required experience points that would get me there.

As before, I was doing Act III Bounties.  This batch included: Kill Ganthar the Trickster – Enter the Skycrown Battlements and Kill Ganthar the Trickster and 100 other enemies (Stonefort), Tide of Battle – Help Colonel Severyn (The Battlefields), Clear the Icefall Caves – Enter the Icefall Caves and Kill all enemies in Icefall caves Level 2 (The Bridge of Korsikk), Kill the Siegebreaker Assault Beast – Enter the Edge of the Abyss and Kill the Siegebreaker Assault Beast (Rakkis Crossing), and Kill Demonika the Wicked – Kill enemies in the Tower of the Damned Level 1 and Kill Demonika the Wicked (Tower of the Damned Level 1).

I’ve done some, if not all, of these Act III Bounties before.  I’ll do my best to avoid repeating screenshots of stuff I’ve already put in other Season 2 blogs.

Tromp the Breaker, Reckless Demon

Ganthar the Trickster, Air of Death

The Tide of Battle Bounty involved helping Colonel Severyn defend the camp.  It starts automatically when a player gets in close proximity to the location of the event.  I’ve lost count of how many times I ended up doing this event as I worked my way through Act III Bounties.  It’s difficult to avoid.

Colonel Severyn: Do not give up!  We must drive these demons back!

Colossal Firewing, The Hell-Warder

Colonel Severyn: Stand fast, men – more are on their way!

Colonel Severyn: You must be the hero I’ve been hearing so much about.  Well, you have my thanks.  We couldn’t have made it through this without you.

There is an Achievement that pops when you do this event for the very first time.  I’ve included it in a previous Season 2 blog.  There isn’t much “story” to go with this particular event, but I wanted to include it anyway.  I found it difficult to get good screenshots of it because it starts before the player gets in the middle of it.

Here’s a quick look at my Season 2 Achievement points.  I was now at 1580 points.

LEVEL 69!

Staying Gold: Pick up 1,000,000 gold.

Dusk the Demon Hunter has hit Level 69.  It now seemed very possible that I would get him to Level 70 before Season 2 ended.

I had time to do another set of Act III Bounties.  They were: Kill Thromp the Breaker – Enter the Skycrown Battlements  and Kill Thromp the Breaker and 100 other enemies (Stonefort), Kill Captain Dale and 150 other enemies (The Keep Depths Level 1), Blaze of Glory – Assist Captain Haile (Rakkis Crossing), Clear the Fortified Bunker – Enter the Fortified Bunker and Kill all enemies in the Fortified Bunker Level 2 (The Battlefields), and Kill Ghom – Enter the Larder and Kill Ghom (The Larder)

I put this screenshot in here just because it was so colorful.

Historian of Arreat: Read the following World lore books in Act III.

Fall of the Barbarians Part 1, Fall of the Barbarians Part 2, Fall of the Barbarians Part 3, Fall of the Barbarians Part 4, Fall of the Barbarians Part 5, The History of Bastion’s Keep

Bastion’s Professor (Hardcore): Read the following World lore books in Act III in Hardcore mode.

Fall of the Barbarians Part 1, Fall of the Barbarians Part 2, Fall of the Barbarians Part 3, Fall of the Barbarians Part 4, Fall of the Barbarians Part 5, The History of Bastion’s Keep

Captain Dale, Former Guard Captain

Corpse Cleanup: Kill 1,000 Undead in Act III in the Season.

Lummock the Brute, Enraged Bone Breaker

The Crazy Climber event starts when a player talks to Private James.

Private James: I’m just a scout.  I was supposed to survey the battlefields from this tower along with my lieutenant, but we were attacked.

Private James: I still have the spyglass here.  Please take it to my lieutenant!  I don’t know how long he’ll be able to hold out up there.

The Crazy Climber events starts after Private James is done talking.  Slay the monsters attacking the tower!

Busaw, Eater of Manflesh, will always appear on these stairs during the Crazy Climber event.

Lieutenant Gryffith:  What happened to the scout?  Is he still alive?

Dusk: He is not long for this world.  You’ll have to go on alone.

Lieutenant Gryffith: I see.  Thank you for the news.  I will tell his family.

Crazy Climber: Complete the Crazy Climber event.

As the player descends the stairs, Lieutenant Gryffith yells “Look out!” Seconds later, he is hit by one of those big rocks that the demons throw down onto The Keep.  That’s the end of Lieutenant Gryffith.  When the player gets down the stairs, it is clear that Private James didn’t survive, either.

A Legendary item dropped for me somewhere in Rakkis Crossing.

Fire Walkers are Legendary boots.  The special thing about this item is: Burn the ground you walk on, dealing 100% weapon damage each second.  The flavor text says: Tradition has it that these boots were forged in the great Challsop Volcano.

Fire Walkers are FUN!

Batting 500: Complete 500 Bounties

This one was a Career Achievement (not a Seasonal one).

LEVEL 70!

Above & Beyond (Hardcore): Reach level 70 in Hardcore mode.

The one above is the Seasonal Achievement.  The one below is the Career Achievement.

Above & Beyond (Hardcore): Reach Level 70 in Hardcore mode.

Above & Beyond: Reach Level 70.

We Own the Night: Reach Level 70 with a Demon Hunter.

Knees & Toes: Reach Level 70 in Season 2.

I have now, officially, unlocked the two transmog items that were only available in Season 2.  I was able to obtain the two transmog items that were only available by hitting Level 70 in Season 1.  We are all going to have to wait for Season 3 before we can complete the “transmog set”.

My main goal for Season 2 was to get my hard core Demon Hunter to Level 70, and I have accomplished that goal.  What’s next?  I decided that my next goal was to try and get all the Seasonal Monster Slaying Achievements before Season 2 ended.  In the meantime… why not Level up the Mystic?

Raising Awareness: Level up the Mystic.

Magical Mystical Tour: Raise the Mystic to level 5.

Valuable Vecin: Acquire the Mystic

Maximum Myriam: Raise the Mystic to level 12.

Getting Crafty: Complete the artisan level achievements listed below.

Forged Credentials, Gemkata, Maximum Myriam

Trade-In: Replace a property with Enchanting.

Dusk the Demon Hunter hit Level 70 in Hardcore mode during Season 2.  It was the main goal I set for myself for Season 2.  To be honest, I wasn’t entirely certain I would be able to accomplish what seems like a rather simple goal.  My biggest problem was that Season 2 appeared in Sanctuary at the same time that a horrifically bad allergy season appeared “in real life”.

I feel like I could have done so much more in Season 2 if I’d been healthier.  Unfortunately, we all have to take what life gives us, and for me that means coping with my seriously severe allergies.  I did the best I could, under the circumstances, and that’s all anyone can hope to do.

It would have been easy to just give up here and let the last few days of Season 2 roll on by.  Instead, I made an effort to hit some Paragon levels and to go after the last Seasonal Monster Slaying Achievement in Act III.
