This blog is part of my series about the progress I made in Season 1.  My Seasonal character is Gurr, the Barbarian.  I wasn’t sure how much time I would have to play or how far I would get through the game with Gurr. These blogs are my way of creating my own, personal, leaderboard for Season 1.  At the beginning of Season 1, and at the time I am putting together this blog, there is no way to know when Season 1 will end.

In this blog, you will find out what Legendary items Gurr obtained in Act II.  I should point out I was playing on Normal difficulty for my first run through the story content.  I figured that if there was time later I could always go through it again at higher difficulty level. The screenshots you see in this blog are from August 31, 2014 and from September 2 and 3, 2014.

Gurr was Level 22 when he started Act II in Normal difficulty. He got some interesting Legendary items.  The first one was Odyn Son.  The flavor text says: This hammer rumbles with the sound of distant thunder.  This is the Sanctuary version of Thor’s hammer Mjölnir.  Thor is Son of Odin.

Primary: +12 – 15 Lightning Damage, Lightning skills deal 5% more damage, +76 Vitality
Secondary: Monster kills grant +22 experience, 39% chance to Chain Lightning enemies when you hit them.
It also has 1 empty socket.

Odyn Son is really fun to use because it shoots lightning at your enemies, and then the lightning bounces off them and hits more enemies.  Here is a screenshot of what the Chain Lightning effect looks like:

Fun fact: The Enchantress can use this Legendary weapon.  Give it to her when your character outgrows it and you still benefit from the Lightning effect the weapon gives.  She ends up shooting lightning and the purple glowing ball of magic that she typically fires.

My first green item was found in The Ruins Level 2.  It is a Blacksmith plan for Born’s Defiance.  The text says: Teaches the Blacksmith how to forge the Legendary set, Born’s Defiance.

The Undisputed Champion was found in The Sewers of Caldeum.  The flavor text says: Few in this world can truly be called champions.
Primary: +62 Strength, +65 Vitality, +13 Resistance to All Elements, Gain 17 Life per Fury Spent (Barbarian Only)
Secondary: +12 Extra Gold from Monsters, Monster kills grant +22 experience.

The Fjord Cutter was found in the Dahlgur Oasis.  The flavor text says: It takes a sturdy weapon to survive on the shores of the frozen sea.
Primary: +20 – 25 Cold Damage, +98 Strength, Chance to Deal 12% Area Damage on Hit, Gain 23 Life per Fury Spent (Barbarian Only)
Secondary: 9.6% Chance to Freeze on Hit, 22% chance to be surrounded by a Chilling Aura when attacking.

A second Fjord Cutter was found in the Hidden Aqueducts.  Its flavor text is the same as before: It takes a sturdy weapon to survive on the shores of the Frozen sea.
Primary: +23 – 27 Cold Damage, +132 Strength, +129 Vitality, Gain 17 Life per Fury Spent (Barbarian Only)
Secondary: 8.2% Chance to Freeze on Hit, 24% chance to be surrounded by a Chilling Aura when attacking.

The Pledge of Caldeum was found in the Cave of the Betrayer Level 2.  Its flavor text says: Long a symbol of an open and free society, this weapon has come to represent the tyranny and corruption that have befallen the great city.
Primary: +39 – 51 Fire Damage, +196 Strength, Reduces all resource costs by 8%
Secondary: Monster kills grant +38 experience, 2.2% Chance to Stun on Hit
It also had 1 empty socket.

Cain’s Fate, a Blacksmith plan, was found in Vault of the Assassin.  The text says: Teaches the Blacksmith how to forge the Legendary set, Cain’s Fate.
I got The Undisputed Champion belt, for the second time, in The Unknown Depths.  Again, its flavor text said:  Few in this world can truly be called champions.  Gurr must be an extra special “champion” because this belt dropped for him twice in the same Act of the game.

Primary:+108 Strength, +12 Resistance to All Elements, Gain 35 Life per Fury (Barbarian Only), Increase Weapon Throw Damage by 10%
Secondary: +10 Maximum Fury (Barbarian Only), Monster kills grant +18 experience.

Belial dropped a Legendary weapon called Hack.  Its flavor text says: This crude, makeshift axe was made from skeletal remains picked out of the Desolate Sands.  Despite its primitive origins, the weapon is extremely effective, perhaps as a result of the residual magics that seeped into its components since the time of the area’s devastation during the Mage Clan Wars.
Primary: +39 – 48 Damage, Reduces cool down of all skills by 8.0%, 18.5% chance to inflict Bleed for 351% weapon damage over 5 seconds.
Secondary: Monster kills grant +65 experience, 81% of your Thorns damage is applied on every attack.

 LEVELING UP!

These are the gold monsters that Gurr the Barbarian ran into while working his way through Act 2:

Zarhym the Blasphemous is the second Zarhym that I found in Season 1.

Next up are the monsters with the purple names that Gurr ran into in Act 2

The beginning of Season 1 just so happened to appear at the same time that a special buff was active.  The buff gave everyone Double Treasure Goblins.  I would not expect that this really fun buff will appear at the start of every Season.

This concludes Gurr the Barbarian’s adventure through Act 2 during Season 1.   He also earned some Achievements, which will be featured in another blog.
