I have an iPad mini that I use to play video games. It didn’t occur to me until March 30, 2017, that I could put Hearthstone on my iPad mini. Previous to this realization, all of my Hearthstone experience happened on my Mac computer.
I learned that the Hearthstone app syncs with the Hearthstone game that I play on my computer. The best part of playing on an iPad is the way it feels. I mean, Hearthstone is a card game, so it makes sense to use your fingers to move cards around and fling cards on the virtual table.
The app allowed me to let it know that I was not a new Hearthstone player. Unexpectedly, it kind of walked me through what could be described as a tutorial anyway. Most of the screenshots in this blog were taken on March 30, and April 2, 2017. (I opened the iPack on May 26, 2017.)
Overall, I think Hearthstone is better on an iPad than it is on a desktop computer. The only complaint I have is that it seems to take a lot longer for the game to find me someone to play against when I play on my iPad mini. Of course, I tend to play video games in the wee hours of the morning, so this could be entirely my fault.
The Hearthstone app immediately wanted to know if I was a brand new player, or if I already had a Hearthstone account. I clicked the “Sign In!” button. If I remember correctly, the next thing I needed to do was sign in with the information I use on the Blizzard desktop app thing. Just like that – Hearthstone on iPad was able to find all the cards I owned, the decks I made, and everything else.
Innkeeper: Welcome Back! We’ve got some quests and rewards together you back into the game.
I was given a free Card Pack. I don’t think this has anything to do with putting Hearthstone on my iPad mini (but I may be wrong about that). This Card Pack is from the Whispers of the Old Gods expansion. I have no idea why I was given this free Card Pack – but I’m glad to have it.
What’s inside this Card Pack?
Eater of Secrets can be used in any deck of any Class. It says: Battlecry: Destroy all enemy Secrets. Gain +1/+1 for each. The blue gem means that this is a Rare card.
Squirming Tentacle can be used in any deck of any Class. It says: Taunt. The white gem means that this is a Common card.
Twilight Elder can be used in any deck of any Class. It says: At the end of your turn, give your C’Thun +1/+1 (wherever it is). The white gem means that this is a Common card.
Stand Against Darkness can only be used in a Paladin deck. It says: Summon five 1/1 Silver Hand Recruits. The white gem means that this is a Common card.
Dark Arakkoa is a card that can only be used in a Druid deck. It says: Taunt Battlecry: Give your C’Thun +3/+3 (wherever it is). The white gem means that this is a Common card.
Innkeeper: I prepared three quests to get you going. Here’s the first!
The first quest is called Return of the Hero. It requires players to “Defeat the 3 challengers”. Each challenger is an NPC (non-player character).
Innkeeper: There are three challengers who have been waiting for you.
The game automatically selected a Mage deck for me. The Return of the Hero quest requires players to defeat three challengers: Alleria Windrunner, Morgl the Oracle, and Magni Bronzebeard.
Jaina Proudmoore vs Alleria Windrunner
This match was easy.
Victory! I defeated Alleria Windrunner.
I made progress in the Return of the Hero quest. One down – two to go!
iPack – Awarded for playing a game on iPad.
The iPack is a Classic Card Pack.
Fen Creeper can be used in any deck of any Class. It says: Taunt. The white gem means that this is a Common card.
Arathi Weaponsmith can only be used in a Warrior deck. It says: Battlecry: Equip a 2/2 weapon. The white gem means that this is a Common card.
Injured Blademaster can be used in any deck of any Class. It says: Battlecry: Deal 4 damage to HIMSELF. The blue gem means that this is a Rare card.
Cold Blood is a card that can only be used in a Rogue deck. It says: Give a minion +2 Attack. Combo: +4 Attack instead. The white gem means that this is a Common card.
Wrath can only be used in a Druid deck. It says: Choose One – Deal 3 damage to a minion; or 1 damage and draw a card. The white gem means that this is a Common card.
The second challenger is Morgl the Oracle. This screenshot shows that I was working on the Return of the Hero Quest. It says: Defeat the three challengers to earn 3 Classic packs and return to the box!
Victory! I defeated Morgl the Oracle. Two down – one more to go!
Magni is the third challenger.
