Here is a short story I posted on Mastodon before posting it onto this blog. It is about what happened when the wind shut the door to the room the cockatiels are in.

The windows to the bird room are open.

The wind just blew the door to the room shut.

My cockatiels go silent. One lets out a very confused, soft, “chirp.”

They have no idea what happened.

Just walked down the hallway toward the bird room, but didn’t go in.

Cockatiels had been silent since the door abruptly closed.

Now, they’re making short chirping noises, apparently trying to inform me of the mysterious closing of the door.

Thanks, birdies. Good to know.
