My main goal for Season 16 was to complete the Season Journey up through Chapter IV and get the Wings of Lempo. What’s next?

My second goal is to finish enough of the Season Journey to unlock more non-Seasonal stash space. The first step towards that goal is to complete Slayer.

I had already finished two objectives before I unlocked Slayer.

Rifticulous: Finish a level 70 Nephalem Rift on Torment V difficulty or higher.

No, You Can’t Have It Back: Obtain a Legendary item by spending Blood Shards with Kadala.

One of the Slayer objectives requires the player to complete a Greater Rift 30 solo. Since I had to do this one by myself, I decided to stream it.

Here’s what I got done in the video above:

  • Completed a Torment I Nephalem Rift
  • Struggled through a Greater Rift Level 22. It was worth the effort.

Crawling Through the Riftage

High Plaines Rifter

Gemming Up The Works

I completed Greater Rift Level 22 at 6:55.232.

  • Ran another Torment I Nephalem Rift
  • Completed a Greater Rift Level 24

I completed Greater Rift Level 24 at 6:00.933.

  • Raised the difficulty to Torment II
  • Ran a Torment II Nephalem Rift
  • Tried a Greater Rift Level 27, failed badly, and opted out
  • Raised the difficulty to Torment III
  • Ran a Torment III Nephalem Rift
  • Completed a Greater Rift Level 25

Fighting The Rift Tide

Feeling So Low

This time, I died shortly after killing the Rift Boss. There is definitely an advantage to playing softcore instead of hardcore. If my Witch Doctor was a hardcore Seasonal character – I’d have to start all over again.

I completed Greater Rift Level 25 at 7:28.516.

  • Completed a Greater Rift Level 27

I completed Greater Rift Level 27 at 11:50.633.

As you can see in the video above, I really struggled with Greater Rift Level 27. I died a lot, but managed to launch the Rift Boss. That’s when things got worse.

My armor “paper doll” appeared and was bright yellow – indicating I needed to get it repaired soon. The boss killed me over and over and over again, and I ended up completely frustrated by the experience.

  • I ended up with 166 Paragon Points

After that, I took a break from Diablo III for a while because I had some dental work done that made me exhausted (more than usual). Sometimes, all it takes is one tiring thing to mess up all my chronic illnesses.

A friend suggested that I take a look at an Arachyr Fire-Bats Solo build that was created by Big Daddy Den. The “free set” for Witch Doctors in Season 16 was the Arachyr’s set – so I already had several of the pieces I would need in order to play that build.

I continued to work my way through the Slayer objectives.

Third Power Cubed: Equip Kanai’s Cube with armor, weapon, and a ring Legendary power.

Fire Bad: Kill the Butcher at level 70 without being burned by floor tiles or being grabbed by Ancient Spear on Torment I difficulty or higher.

Butchering The Butcher: Kill the Butcher at level 70 on Torment I difficulty or higher.

The Realm of Putridness: Slay The Vile Executioner and The Foul Desecrator at level 70 on Torment I difficulty or higher. The Infernal Machine for the Realm of Putridness drops from Sokahr the Keywarden of Putridness in the Dahlgur Oasis.

The Realm of Regret: Slay the King of the Dead and The Merciless Witch at level 70 on Torment I difficulty or higher. The Infernal Machine for the Realm of Regret drops from Odeg the Keywarden of Regret in the Fields of Misery.

At this point, I had made some gear changes and earned more Paragon Points. It was time to make a second attempt at Greater Rift Level 27.

This time I completed Greater Rift Level 27 at 5:50.416. Big improvement!

Scar Tissue: Kill the Butcher at level 70 on Torment VII difficulty or higher.

Cry Me A River: Kill Maghda at level 70 on Torment VII difficulty or higher.

When I was done playing for the night, I had 181 Paragon Points and was most of the way through the Slayer objectives.

Here’s what I got done in the video above:

  • Completed a Greater Rift Level 28

I completed Greater Rift Level 28 at 9:56.050.

  • Completed a Greater Rift Level 29

Stonesmith: Level three Legendary Gems to level 5.

I completed Greater Rift Level 29 at 6:39.966.

  • I completed a Greater Rift Level 30!

Rifted Off: Reach Greater Rift Level 30 Solo with the full bonuses of one of the following Class sets.

Solipsist: Reach Greater Rift Level 30 Solo.

I completed Greater Rift Level 30 at 8:11.800.

  • Completed a Greater Rift Level 26 to level up a Legendary Gem
  • Completed another Greater Rift Level 26 to level up a Legendary Gem
  • Ran a Torment VII Nephalem Rift to get more Greater Rift Keys
  • Ran a Greater Rift Level 27 to level up a Legendary Gem
  • When I finished playing, I had 195 Paragon Points

I made a short video that shows how to find the Tome of Set Dungeons.

The Spirit of Arachyr Set Dungeon is located in a teeny tiny dead end in the Dahlgur Oasis. I had a hard time finding it. After killing everything in the zone, I accepted help from King Tut (who is part of the Shattered Soulstone clan).

Shortly after that, I accidentally stumbled upon the Arachyrs Set Dungeon. I feel like I nearly fell right into it (but I don’t think that’s actually possible.) Had I known things would work out this way – I would have accepted help a lot sooner.

It took several attempts before I was able to complete the Basic Tier of the Spirit of Arachyr Set Dungeon. There is definitely a learning curve for this one.

Incy Wincy Spider: Complete 1 Primary Objective and kill the initial amount of enemies in the Spirit of Arachyr Set Dungeon.

Players who complete the Basic Tier of the Spirit of Arachyr Set Dungeon receive a Banner Sigil reward.

I had now completed the Set Me Free objective in the Slayer part of the Season Journey.

In the video above, I ran some Greater Rifts so I could level up some Legendary Gems. It was the last thing I needed to do to complete the Slayer part of the Season Journey.

Gems In, Gems Out: Level one Legendary Gem to level 25.

I completed the Slayer part of the Season Journey!

Players who completed Slayer in Season 16 received a special portrait frame. It is called “Call To Adventure – Slayer”.

This brought me through the end of Slayer. There are more parts of the Season Journey to finish. As you can see in the video above, I started working on the next part right away.
