Season 12 began while I was taking lots of antibiotics and trying to recover from acute bacterial tonsillitis. This left me with much less energy than I expected, and I was unable to start Season 12 right away. After thinking it over, I decided to play a softcore Barbarian in Season 12.  I’ve spent more hours playing a Barbarian than playing any other class. Playing a softcore character would allow me to make mistakes – without having to start over at level 1. My goal for Season 12 is to get those lovely, dark, wings that are offered as one of the rewards. I have more than one softcore Barbarian.  At the start of Season 12, one of my softcore Barbarians had a bag filled with stuff that I was intending to eventually put into Kanai’s Cube.

So, I used the Rebirth and put Gurr the Barbarian, who I created in Season 1, into Season 12.

Gurr is ready to kill some zombies!

The objectives in Chapter I of Season 12 are similar to the ones in previous Seasons.  The bosses you need to kill changes, but the rest is the same.

A New Start: Complete 5 Bounties. Open up the Waypoint Map in Adventure Mode to see what Bounties are available.

Begin Again: Complete a Nephalem Rift.  Use the Nephalem Obelisk in town while in Adventure Mode to start a Nephalem Rift.

This is what Gurr was wearing when he was Level 14.  The fluffy pet with him is called The Bumble.

Sin City: Kill Azmodan.

A Life With Meaning: Raise the Blacksmith to level 10. Leveling up the Blacksmith unlocks access to higher level weapon and armor recipes.

Seasonal Socketing: Socket 5 gems into your gear.

This is what Gurr the Barbarian was wearing when he hit Level 28.

Lose Myself: Kill Maltheal.

Watch Yourself: Raise the Mystic to level 10. Leveling up the Mystic enables her to enchant more item types and unlocks new Transmogrify looks.

Gurr the Barbarian was starting to get some decent looking gear when he hit Level 33.  I wasn’t thrilled with the weapon, though.  It took a while before I could find a better one.

I wasn’t leveling up as fast as I wanted to, so I decided it was time to move the difficulty level up to Hard.

Just a Hobby: Raise the Jewelry to level 10. Leveling up the Jeweler unlocks access to higher level gem recipes.

Here is the gear that Gurr the Barbarian was wearing at Level 35.

Shortly after hitting Level 41, Gurr the Barbarian finally got a fun Legendary Two-Handed Sword!  It’s called Stalgard’s Decimator, and it Ignores Durability Loss.  Every so often, it allows your Barbarian to throw a piercing axe at enemies.  The flavor text says:

Stalgard was a bloodthirsty warlord whose forces briefly controlled the trade routes of the southern plains. He was famed for engaging in duels with the best swordsman of any caravan who dared pass through his territory, offering to let it proceed unmolested if its champion triumphed.  Of course, he was equally famed for cheating if he began to lose said duels.

The Stalgrad’s Decimator looks cool!

Forged In Fire: Reach level 50.
