Today was Day 13 of the 2017 Fall pollen season. The pollen count has officially reached the nines. Previous pollen seasons taught me that nines are painful and make even small physical tasks into exhausting efforts.
I started the day by turning off my alarm and going right back to sleep for a few more hours. This is the first nine of the 2017 Fall pollen season. Already, I’m needing extra sleep – that does not result in waking up feeling any better.
I chose to direct my limited energy towards getting some paid writing work done. The process was slow.
The image at the top of this blog came from Pixabay. I would have preferred to use a photo of my own, but there was no chance of going outside today to take one. Nines are painful, and going outside becomes more dangerous for me than usual.
In English, nine is the name of the number that comes after eight. In German, nein means “NO”. (Both words are pronounced the same). For me, the two concepts have combined. I’m saying “Nein!” to a pollen count of nine.
