The Flight Rising Legacy Challenge is a 10 generation breeding challenge. You start out with an ungened starter dragon. Then, you find a mate for that dragon (following specific rules and limitations). Breed those two dragons. The idea is to end up with an attractive triple gened dragon by the end of the Challenge.

My dragons just produced the Seventh Generation. When I started this, I thought it would be a quick little project. That is not how things are turning out! All of the artwork in this post is copyright of Flight Rising.

The dragons of the sixth generation produce an Heir that becomes the Founder of the seventh generation. My sixth generation dragons were Norbert and Xin.

Norbert is a male Guardian.
Primary: Storm Iridescent
Secondary: Splash Basic
Tertiary: Blue Basic

Xin is a female Imperial.
Primary: Storm Iridescent
Secondary: Splash Shimmer
Tertiary: Splash Underbelly

These two dragons had a couple of genes in common.  Both had a Storm Iridescent as a Primary gene.  Both had Splash as a Secondary gene (but Norbert’s was Iridescent while Xin’s was Shimmer).  I was hoping that these two dragons would produce a baby that had Storm Iridescent as a Primary gene and Splash – any kind – as a Secondary gene.

If I got really lucky, that baby would have Splash – with anything – as a Tertiary gene, too. That would give me a dragon with Storm/Splash/Splash.  Ideally, I want a triple gened dragon by the end of the challenge.  That might make it possible for me to find a dragon with Splash/Splash/Splash as a mate for the heir.

As always, I like to use the “Preview” feature to see what the potential babies could look like.  It is never a promise, of course.  This time, the potential babies looked remarkably similar to each other.  I took this to be a good sign.

Norbert and Xin ended up producing three eggs.

The hatchlings just so happened to resemble the potential offspring from the Preview feature!

The first baby dragon in the line automatically becomes the Heir.  When that dragon grows up, he or she will become the Founder for the next generation.

Nenkal is a male Guardian.
Primary: Storm Iridescent
Secondary: Splash Basic
Tertiary: Splash Basic

Here is what Nenkal looked like as an adult dragon.  He is wearing a Frigid Emblem (which I use to mark the Founder of each Generation of dragons.)

I got super lucky and ended up with a dragon who had exactly the genes I was hoping for!  What genes did Nenkal’s siblings have?

Malkin is a male Guardian.
Primary: Storm Iridescent
Secondary: Splash Basic
Tertiary: Blue Basic

Irelia is a female Guardian.
Primary: Storm Iridescent
Secondary: Splash Basic
Tertiary: Splash Underbelly

The next step is to find a mate for Nenkal.  There are rules that must be followed.  Obviously, Nenkal’s mate has to be female.  She must come from the Shadow Flight (which is my flight).  She cannot have had any babies yet. She must be purchased from the Auction House and must cost less than 70,000 Treasure.  I was hoping to find a dragon that was Splash/Splash/Splash.  Look at the little lovely I found!

Divine is a female Fae.
Primary: Splash Tiger
Secondary: Splash Freckle
Tertiary: Splash Gembond

The last thing to do is to breed the Founder and the Mate of the Seventh Generation.  This cannot happen immediately, because both Nenkal and Divine are babies.  Only adult dragons can breed. Nenkal will be ready in 15 days, and Divine will be ready in 14 days.  Dragon eggs take about 5 days to hatch.  Nenkal and Divine are the Seventh Generation and they will produce the Eight Generation.  I’m getting close to finishing the Challenge!

Here is what Divine looked like as an adult dragon.
